Public Speaking contest in this zone held at St. Mary's School, Goderich. The other contestants were from Sacred Heart, Wing - ham; St. Joseph's, Clinton and St. Mary's, Goderich. Four of the nine winners chosen were from Kings- bridge School, Marianne Franken in the juniors; Maria Dalton and Linda Van Osch in the intermediates; and Kenny Van Osch in the senior group, Maria Dalton will repres- ent the zone at the .O.E.C. T.A. finals in Dublin on' Saturday with Linda Van Osch an alternate in their group and Kenny Van Osch as an alternate in the seniors. Judges in Goderich on Wednesday were Murray Gaunt M.P. and Father Semple, Parish Priest at Wingham•, This Friday evening at the Legion,1n Lucknow, the fol- lowing representatives will be speaking, Linda Van Osch, Mary Katherine Stap- leton, Christine Stapleton and Kenny Van Osch. A meeting of the 'parents of children receiving the Sac- rament of Reconciliation was held at the school on Thurs- day afternoon. Grade seven and eight exams are under way so there's plenty of work for these students. This Friday the senior boys and girls wilt be travelling to St. Mary's School, Goderich for basketball ?Ames..., .:.. Vicki Delbergue is repres- enting the Goderich Knights of Columbus Council in the District Free Throw tourna- ment at Stratford this Sun- day. -A-Family and School meet- ing is to be held Wednescray, February 27th at the school. Kindergarten registration is to be held in the afternoon of Thursday, March 6 and it looks as though our school is going to grow next year. SOCIALNEWS Congratulations to Eddie and Maureen Chilton on the, arrival -'of their third son, Jonathon William, at the Alexandjria Marine and Gen- eral Hospital, Goderich, on Wednesday, February 13th. A new brother for Tommy and Mark and another grand- child for Mrs, Clarice Dalton. Wot'd was received this week of the death of Mrs. Murray Rankin of Chatham at the age of 51. The Rankins formerly lived where Dan andEileen- Wilson and family now live. Their daughter, Ruth, is• married to Brian Dalton, son of Dennis and Irene Dalton of this Parish. Dennis and Irene attended the funeral on Tuesday,,. in Chatham. Several young high school students from the area were Holmesville U.C.W. donates Tuesday afternoon February 12,. the United Church Women met in•thei United Church. Isobel Harris and her group were in charge, of the meeting with prayer' by Phyllis Cox. The scrip- ture was read by Isobel, and "The Winning Power of Love" was given by Irene Cudmore and "Love in Action" by Kaye Harris; Iona "Blake° received the offering. In the absence of the president, vice president Phyllis Cox conducted the business. A donation was made to Camp Menesetung, and Isobel - read the birthday verse. for February then 'a poem. Church news The worship service in the United Church was held at 1 p.m. last Sunday when Mr. Oestreicher and the children discussed persons in. the Bible. whose names start with The letter""$" The' title of the minister's sermon was "What Are You Looking For?" Brother has the trip planned for this spring. • ° Gene and Betty Frayne received word on the passing of Betty's uncle,' Mr. Ed Kraemer of Waterloo, at the - age of 95. The funeral Mass was held on Saturday morn- ing from St. 'Louis Roman Catholic Church, Waterloo. Six area men attended a' three day, bus tour to the North American Farm Equip- ment Show at Louisville, Kentucky. They were Doug Haskell, Don Boak, Paul Frayne, Paul Eedy and Fran- cis and Lawrence Hogan. KINGSRRIDGE. KURRICULUM Due to the fact that the Ministry is no longer giving Community School Grants, Denise Dalton is no longer School Co-ordinator and the principal, Dave Zyluk has taken over her duties. Grade 7 and 8 are writing exams. Toronto won the junior house league floor hockey. Grades 2, 3 and 4 celebrat- ed Brenda Van Osch's birth- day. Qn February 4 they. had a birthday party Our school is on the ist of schools that have an out- break of mumps. Father Dentinger was a special .guest at Kindergart- en and Grade 1's Valentine party on Thursday. On Fri- day the Kindergarten and Grade 1 class went sleigh riding at Tom Hogan's. On Friday, K and Grade 1 celebrated Jennifer Red- mond's birthday. Mrs. Eedy attended a meeting in Dublin for Educa- tion Week. 1 A Parent's meeting was held on Thursday. February 14th at 3.30 p.m. Jot.. parents of pupils to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation in March. The Ministry of Education courses run by the Unikersity of Western Ontario in St. Joseph's Community School commence in September.
