On-the-job
training
Qn-the-job training in
municipal government
operations is being
--provided through a new
program being launched
by, the Ministry of
Intergovernmental
Affairs.
Intergovernmental
Affairs Minister Tom
Wells, in announcing the
program, said "the
trainee, the individual
municipality and local
government as a whole
will benefit from the
Ontario, Municipal
Frarrring Progra-crr.'-' - --
The program is being
developed to help
municipal governments
in Ontario attract and
develop qualified `staff
who ,,are interested in
working at the local'level.
The Ministry will work
.to match those graduates
interested in working in
various municipal
government fields --some
applicants may already
be on staff .
municipalities which
have indicated interest in
the program:
Municipalities will in-
terview • candidates and
make hiring''
arrangements. '
Funding will be shared
on a predetermined
formula by the'employing
municipality and the
Ministry.
The program is
scheduled to start this
spring. Those interested
in being considered as
trainees and interested
municipalities should
contact the Ministry of
