The minutes . of the previous meeting and the last annual -meeting were adoptedas read by the secretary, Mrs. • Donald Haines, On motion of Reeve Joe' Hunking and Jim Glousher, Ralph Cam- pbell was again asked to be chairman of the board. Mrs. Donald Haines was appointed secretary and the caretakers will be Mrs Jim Glousher and Mrs. Donald Cartwright. The Board members voted to raise water rates on the John Street water line to $50 a year with* certain provision in -case. of a vacancy. It was also decided to raise hall rent from $8 to $10 per meeting. Jim Glousher was• appointed to get a new 6/-I,rap ,pttmo to assist in the Werk at the_weil. "The financial statement vvas'diseussed. Hall renta of $2,37 and water rents of $765 were among the. -receipts. The Women's Institutie gave a donation of $250 plus replaced spoons .that were. Missing :following the. 125th birthday celebrations at a cost of 879.72. Total "receipts were $5,940 and ex- penciitures $2,991.47.. HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY The Aubtt rn Hor- ticUltural Societyheld its annual meeting last Monday -,afternoon in the Community Metnorial Hall with • a good at- tendance. The president, Mrs. Dorothy Orange, presided for' the meeting which opened by singing O Canada with Mrs, Donald Haineeas pianist. The minutes were adopted as read by the secretary, Mrs. Thomas Haggitt. She also gave the year's report of the Society's activities in- cluding the many flower beds, the flower baskets hung on Goderich Street, the flower float for the" r25th Birthday paf-ade and -the special red maple planted to mark the occasion. The treasurer, Mrs. Eleanor Bradnock gave the financial statement showing a balance of $792.37. Total receipts were $1169.92 while the expenses were $428.88. Shirley Keller, Editor of the Goderich Signal -Star came to the school last Thursday and spoke to grad- es four to six.' She 'showed slides on printing a newspap- er and talked about editing a newspaper. Two importantdates have been set at the school.
