PUC elects
Jim Peters
1986 chairman
The Goderich Public Utilities Commis-
sion held its inaugural meeting in:
December and Dr. Jim Peters was elected,
corrunission chairman for the round ;,
year.
Peters, who was chairman of the cont
mission last year, will have Ben Shear;
down as his vice-chairman. Sheardown
will also serve on the joint town -PUC com-
mittee.
Water department superintendent, Er-
nie Porter, will serve as chairman of the
Western Ontario section of the American
Water Works Association which covers an
area to Kitchener and Windsor. PUC
manager Evert Middel will serve as direc-
tor of the Association of Municipal Electric
Utilities ( District 6) and Municipal Elec-
tric Association.

financing
approved
The Ontario Development Corporation
has approved a guarantee in the amount of
$200,000 for General Home Systems (Hen-
sall) Limited of Hensall, Jack Riddell,
Minister of Agriculture and Food and
M.P.P. for Huron -Middlesex, and Industry,
Trade and Technology Minister Hugh P.
O'Neil announced recently.
"The guarantee will enable the new
owners of General Home Systems to secure
approprite bank funding and ensure con-
tinuation of the manufacturing process in
Hensall," said O'Neil.
The company is a major manufacturer of
transportable modular housing units and
employs approximately 130 people on
average.
Information on all financial assistance
programs is available from the Ontario
Development Corporation's London office.
County Council sets 1986 committees
Huron County council set its committees
for the coming year at a recent meeting.
Tuckersmith Township Reeve Bob Bell
was named as chairman of the road com-
mittee. Its members are Colborne Reeve
Russel Kernighan, Reeve William Bennett
of Seaforth, McKillop Reeve Marie
Hicknell and Wingham Reeve Bruce
Machan.
James Aitchison, reeve of West
Wawanosh Township was named as head
of the board of management for Huron -
view, home for the aged. Conunittee
members are Stanley , Township Reeve
Clarence Rau, Brussels Reeve Hank Ten
Pas and Exeter Deputy Reeve bossy Fuller.
The chairmanship for the board of
health goes to Turnberry Township Reeve
Brian McBurney. Members are Warden
Leona Armstrong, East Wawanosh Reeve
Ernest Snell, Clinton Reeve Bea Cooke and
provincial representative William Morley
of Usborne Township.
Hullett Reeve Tom Cunningham has
been named chairman of the library
board. County council members are Hen-
sall Reeve Jim Robinson, Howick
Township Reeve Gerald D'Arcey and
Warden Leona Armstrong. From the
general public, the members are .Janis
Bisback, Robert Ritter and Martina
Schneiker.
Exeter Reeve Bill Mickle has been nam-
ed chairman of the agriculture and proper-
ty committee. The members are Goderich
Township Reeve Grant Stirling, Blyth
Reeve Albert Wasson and Ilay Deput}
Reeve Clare Ceichert.
Hay Reeve Lionel Wilder was named
chairman of the planning and development
committee. The members of this commit-
tee are Usborne Township Reeve Gerry
Prout, Goderich Deputy Reeve John
Doherty and Stephen Township Reeve
Thomas Tomes.
Zurich Reeve Robert Fisher was named
as chairman of the social services commit-
tee. The members are Morris Township
Reeve Doug Fraser, Ashfield Township
Reeve Allan Gibson and Goderich
Township Deputy Reeve Laurie Cox.
Bayfield Reeve Dave Johnston was
made chairman of the Huron County
Pioneer Museum committee. This new
committee is made up of Goderich Reeve
Harry Worsell, Hullett Reeve T»m Cunn-
ingham, and Stephen Township Deputy
Reeve Ken McCann.
The executive c•onunittee is made up of
the chairman of all the committees with
Warden Armstrong the chairman.
