Hi!
I'm Amy Brown and I'm holding my sister
Vanessa. I was 5 years old on Dec. 8 and my
baby sister is 5 months old. She helped me
celebrate my birthday this year but Mom-
my said she couldn't eat any cake yet. I go to
Kindergarten at Holmesville and really love
it. Birthdays really are special, aren't they?
Dear Captain Comet:
My name is Terrianne Margaret Young. I
was one -year-old on Dec. 7. I live at R.R. 3,
Goderich with my Mom and Dad ( Ross and
Margie). I had a big pink birthday cake.
Please tell Santa I have been a good girl this
year.
Love Terrianne
P.S. A special "Hi" to my best friend
Melissa.
Hello!
My name is Ben McLellan and I am six
years old today. On Saturday I had a party
at McDonald's with my friends — it was
awesome. Only two weeks until Christmas -
- I can hardly wait. My sister, Abby, and I
have been very gond (most of the time).
Merry Christmas!
Love,
Ben

Lois Tebbutt's GrZade 3 and 4 class has
been tracing their family histories and have
made a family tree. Some students were
really interested and were able to trace
their roots back to the Old Country. Mrs.
Camerons Kindergarten 1 made bells and
decorated them with sparkles. They're go-
ing to hang them up in their room.
Grade 4 partners helped the Kindergarten
students write letters to Santa. Mrs. Nivins
Grade 4 is starting Christmas activity units.
Mrs. Webster spent time making place
mats for each child in Mrs. Ottewell's Grade
3 and then teaching each to do liquid em-
broidery. The children were thrilled with
their finished products and thank Mrs.
Webster for her efforts.
Miss Mathers' Grade 1 has just finished
their Community Helpers unit. They ended
this unit by going to the Lucknow Fire Hall
and Post Office on Thursday. It was fun!
They also started the count down to
Christmas and eagerly singing songs; play-
ing games and doing Christmas Activities.
Sheila Clarke's Grade 2, Alphabet had a
busy day making dough Christmas or-
naments with their Grade 7 reading bud-
dies. Thanks to Marie Webster for all her
help! They also made Christmas cards for
their pen pals in Hinton, Alberta.
On Thursday they had a special treat.
Danny's dad, Mr. Wylds, brought a
beautiful Christmas tree, and Colin's
parents loaned a stand. It's beginning to feel
a lot like Christmas!
Marcie Dawson is their "Special Me" this
week.
Heather Young's Grade 1 went to the
Lucknow Fire Hall and Post Office. Mr.
Steer let them push the siren button! At the
post office, Mr. Allen gave them candy
canes for being good listeners.
Salvation
Army Band
entertains
Golden Gate
On the evening of Dec. 4 approximately 60
members of the Golden Gate Seniors Club
enjoyed their annual Christmas dinner at
Victoria United Church.
Following the dinner, the group proceeded
to MacKay Centre. Owing to the absence of
President Jean Sinnamon, Vice President
Percy Blundell conducted a short business
meeting followed by the singing of several
Christmas carols with Adelaide Feagan at
the piano.
After the arrival of the Salvation Army
Band, Captain Wendy Johnstone, M.C. for
the evening, introduced its members to the
audience. During the program she told in-
teresting stories of the origin of each of the
carols that had been selected. All joined in
singing the carols led by Lieut. Valerie
James, accompanied by the stirring music
of the band.
A group of young girls, members of the
band, delighted the audience with lively
numbers on Timbrels, including "Jingle
Bells."
Other highlights of the evening included
Julie Meyer's cornet solo, "0 Holy Night "
and a vocal solo by Capt. Johnstone, "Thou
Didst Leave Thy Throne". She also read a
passage of scripture from the 1st chapter of
the Gospel of St. John.
The band contributed musical numbers
throughout the program, which was
thoroughly enjoyed by all present.
Percy Blundell presented the proceeds of
the evening to Capt. Johnstone to assist the
Salvation Army in its worthwhile work at
Christmas.
