MONDAY NIGHT a LADIW
The. 0ldthms were really on a roll as
Meltla. Mad led them to a seven point win
over Shirl's Girls. It was a team effort and
high games were rolled by Barb Meriam,
153, Jane Boyd 196, Kris Miller 200, Chris
Reed 226, 242, 591 triple, Nancy White 241,
252, 671 triple and Melba Maillet 207, 298, 692
triple. Shirt's Girls didn't take any points
but had good games rolled by Mary Lynne
Telford 180, 189, Brenda Teichert 202,
Shirley Kennedy 269, 687 triple.
Audrey Brindley led Troubles Back to a
seven point win over the Blazers. High
games rolled by Lisa Durnin 139, Mary
Chambers 176, and Audrey Brindley 243, 595
triple. The Blazers didn't take any points
but had good games rolled by Earleen Spain
171, Jean Pinder 220, and Joyce Hamilton
250, 624 triple.
The Marionettes and No Names split the
points with the Marionettes coming away
with four points. They were led by Joan
Crawford 189, Ila Williams 199, and Betty
Fisher 195, 521 triple. The No Names took
three points with good games rolled by Rose
Sheardown 211, Jean Mundle 242, Anne Mc-
Cartney 203, 270, 599 triple.
Auleen's Angels bowled against 100 per-
cent of their average and took two points.
High glames rolled by Brenda Dineen 248,
589 triple and Joan Burleigh 252, 603 triple.
WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON LADIES
Top place Rolls Royce stole all seven
points from Hondas as Janet Rumig bowled
a 236 single and 614 triple.
Firebirds, led by Wanda MacDonald with
2a,, co* tave 000 from Mus. ,,Mfg
Hornblower rolled 91 pins ever av a e.
Shirley Smith, wiith:a 209 single an 536 tri -
pie, toppedl'Hot' Rods,,who,get four points
from gamblers. Phyllis Boak 92 points
over average. Top ,bowler for Edsels was
Olive Gilbert, 214 single and 550 triple. They
took four points from Thunderbirds who got
help from their spare Isabel Mullin.
Porsches and Ponies bowled to a 3-4 split.
Audrey Brindley rolled 270".and 606 while
Marion Millar rolled 201.
Love Bugs and Caddies /rolled many fine
games but Love Bugs came out on top with
five points. Ilene Sillib had 212 and 207,
Grace Mugford 218, 243 and 624, and Irene
Sparks 202.
TUES. FARMERS LEAGUE
The Bonsai Bombers took back first place
winning over the Huronia Hustlers with
Steve Johnston who led them to victory with
a 647 triple, taking 17 out of a possible 30
points. Grub's Group won over the Goderich
Entertainers with 24 out of a possible 30
points. Tim Gerrits led them with a 752 tri-
ple and Kevin Clark and Paul Lamb took in-
dividual points.
Sound Trek took a surprise win over the
Berzerko Buddies dropping them back to a
one-half point lead for second place. Bob
Graham led Sound Trek to victory with a 681
triple with Greg Potter and Bill Tranter tak-
ing individual points.
Only Jim Harrison and his partner Bill
Tranter and Steve Johnston and Peter
Duskovy are battling for the High -Low
Tournament.
Cauchis lead Lions to win over
St. Marys in Shamrock League
Andre Cauchi's three goals and one
assist led the Goderich Lions Peewees to a
4-3 win over Dorchester in Shamrock
League play here Saturday.
The score was tied 1-1 after the first
period, but three straight goals by the
Lions in the second period gave them a 4-1
cushion. However, powerplay goals in the
third period put Dorchester back in the
game as they scored twice late in the
period.
Jean Paul Cauchi scored from the point,
accounting for the fourth Goderich goal.
Jeff Hodges chipped in with two assists in
the game for the Lions while Paul
Hamilton and Lonnie rumig added one
assist apiece.
Besides the scoring efforts of Andre
Cauchi, the Lions got strong performances
from Chris O'Neil, Brian Lane and Hodges
on the forward lines. On defence, Kevin
Moss, Mike Stegenstad and Rumig had to
play key roles respectively when the Lions
were two -men short.
The Lions next contest is in St. Marys
this Saturday.
Garb and Gear Novices lose 4 - 2
to Dorchester, defeat St. Marys
The Goderich Garb and Gear Novices
were involved in two close games in
Shamrock League play on the weekend as
they lost 4-2 to Dorchester Saturday and
then rebounded with a 4-3 victory over St.
Marys here Sunday afternoon.
Dorchester jumped on the Novices early
in the game Saturday and built up a 3-0
lead en rout to the 4-2 win.
Dorchester scored two goals in the first
period and a goal in the first two minutes
of the second period increased its lead to 3-
0. Goderich got one goal back midway
through the second period as David
Lumley scored on an unassisted effort.
However, Dorchester scored 40 later to
regain its three -goal lead.
Goderich scored the only goal of the
third period as Lumley took a pass from
Lee Williamson and scored his second of
the game.
The Novices were a little more lively
here Sunday as they edged St. Marys 4-3.
St. Marys twice took the lead in the first
only to have Goderich come back to tie the
score. Jason Meriam and Mike McBride
scored for Goderich as the first period end-
ed in a 2-2 tie. St. Marys again took a one -
goal lead after just -18 seconds of play in
the second period but Meriam's second
goal of the game tied the score 3-3.
Goderich pulled out the victory scoring
the only goal of the final period. Derek
Gilchrist scored the winning goal after tak-
ing a pass from team-mate Taylor Cic-
chini.
This Saturday the novices play in St.
Marys and will return home Saturday,
Dec. 21 for a game against Strathroy.
Goderich Novice B's defeat
Clinton 7 - 1 in league play
The Goderich Novice Bs scored five
straight goals in an eight -minute span in
the first period and coasted to a 7-1 win
over Clinton in Huron -Perth Tier II novice
hockey here Saturday.
Steve Linklater led the Goderich offence
with three goals and two assists. He scored
the first goal of the game and added
singles in the second and third period to
complete the hat -trick.
Brandon Corriveau, John MacDonald,
Dwayne Leddy and Steve Clarence scored
one goal each for Goderich. Ryan Million
chipped in with two assists. Robert Kemp
scored the lone Clinton goal.
Senior Vikings reach
tournament final game
The GDCI senior Vikings reached the
finals of the Stratford Northwestern Husky
Basketball tournament last weekend
before losing to Ingersoll Collegiate in dou-
ble overtime 41-39.
The Vikings defeated East Elgin 48-40 in
their first round game and then defeated
Woodstock College Avenue 46-39 in the
semi-finals.
Todd Graham who was the outstanding
offensive player of the tournament led his
team's scoring in all three games scoring
24 against East Elgin, 20 in the game with
Woodstock and 15 in the final. Dave Almasi
also was a strong offensive threat scoring
nine, 18 and 12 points in the three games.
Darryl Black, Bob Barwick and Travis
Bell led the Vikings defensively.
The Vikings had the lead in the last
minute of regulation time in the final game
only to see Ingersoll score a basket to force
overtime. The Vikings scored first in the
overtime but again Ingersoll came back to
tie it. In the second overtime, the first
team to score four points was to be
declared the winner. The Vikings got two
points but missed some foul shots. Inger-
soll then came back with a basket and sunk
two foul shots to win the championship.
Viking coach Lynn Meyers was pleased
with his team's play in the tournament and
is looking forward to the opening game of
the Huron -Perth Conference schedule here
Thursday against the Wingham Madill
Mustangs.
Junior Vikings split a
pair of exhibition games

The GDCI junior Vikings split a pair of
exhibition basketball games last Wednes-
day in Owen Sound, losing 45-36 to OSCVI
and defeating West Hill Secondary School
60-38.
Byron Bowman was the Vikings' Lop
scorer in both games, getting 15 points
against OSCVI and 14 against West Hill.
In the game with OSCVI the Vikings
were outscored 20-7 in a disastrous third
quarter. Owen Sound outhustled the Vik-
ings and got hot outside shooting while the
Vikings missed layups and gave the ball
away through bad passing. The score was
tied 10-10 after one quarter but OSCVI led
by four, 17-13 at halftime and then took
control of the game in the second half.
In addition to Bowman's 15 points, the
Vikings got eight points from Sean Wilson.
six from Scott Darrow, three from Andrew
MacAdam and two each from Derek
Chandler and Kevin Haasnoots.
The Vikings had little trouble defeating
an inexperienced West Hill team.
Goderich led 36-17 at the half and 48-26
after three quarters.
Mike Bush scored 11 points and Sean
Wilson had 10 to combine with Bowman's
14. Scott Garrow added eight, Derek
Chandler had four po# is and Craig Wark
had three. Checkinrin with two points
each were Andrew MacAdam, Calvin
KNight, Kevin Black, Kevin Haasnoots
and Craig Ritchie.
The Vikings begin their Huron -Perth
conference schedule with a game
Thursday here against Wingham. Coach
Myles Murdock takes his Vikings into
league play with a 2-1 exhibition record.
