With a recent donation by the Goderich Music Boosters, the school will be able to purchase new instruments.( photo by Todd Mowatt) See the trio "Genes" By Heidi Zoethout Michelle Glenn The Grade 7s and 8s at Robertson went to St. Mary's school to see the trio "Genes" on Wednesday, November 20. The cost was $1.00 per child. Mr. Scott is leaving our school to teach at Bluewater Centre. He will be missed. Mrs. Allen will be replacing him in Grade 7. On November 27 in the evening, the school was broken into along ,with} two other schools. A window was broken and a com- puter, the money for which was raised by pupils, was stolen. If you know anything about it please contact the school or the police department. "Yuck, is that our water??" The Grade 8 class got a chance to view parameciums during Mr. Bogie's science class. ROBERTSON ROUND -UP On November 22 the students received their report cards. The interviews were held on November 26 and 27. Mrs.Nguyen made toffee with the Grade 4's for their French class. Coming Events There will be a Christmas concert on December 18. On December 20 there will be a French Club assembly and the students begin their Christmas holidays. Yea! ! P.S. Narcissus bulbs bloom BY MADONNA BRADLEY JENNIFER DALTON Our paper white narcissus bulbs in Room 10's Grade 3 class have produced plants 48 cm. tall with lovely clusters of perfumed flowers. It's been fun to record their growth. All the classes participated in skating at I.ucknow Arena on Friday afternoon. Only 31 primary pupils remained at the school due to lack of skates or inability to skate. Mrs. Blake and Mr. Hooftman provided ac- tivities for them. Mrs. Worsell's Grade 5 class published the first-ever edition of the "Saratoga Sentinel" filled with reports of a mysterious Swamp Creature that terrorizes the area every five years. Brookside staff and students are sorry to lose Mrs. Pat Allen who is being transferred to Robertson School starting Monday, December 2. She will be especially missed by her Grade 5 class and Primary Phys. Ed. students and sports teams. We all wish her the best. Congratulations to Mr. Sygrove who is go- ing to Walton in January as Vice -Principal. We are sorry to see him leave Brookside but wish him success in his career. On Monday, November 25, the Grade 4 class in Room 7 made "Stone Soup" with the ATTENTION CHRISTMAS CRAFTERS! We have everything you need to make your own CHRISTMAS ARRANGEMENTS *Cones * Picks *Rows *Beads *Brooms *Eine Wreaths *Candles *Poinsettias *Ornaments and lots morel help of our volunteer, Mrs. Bev. Weaver. The class had read the story "Stone Soup" and each member volunteered to bring in vegetables and the other ingredients. Under Mrs. Weaver's direction, the students prepared a very delicious hot meal. Thanks Mrs. Weaver. Mrs. Blanchette's Kindergarten 2 class made a big gingerbread man who led them a merry chase around the school until they tracked him down and ate him. They also made gingerbread cookies to take home . Mrs. Cameron's Kindergarten I class read about Curious George and made newspaper boats or hats. Grade 6, Room 8 has just completed a study of Tom Gratton. Each student is now researching a topic related to the series. Mrs. Sygrove visited Room 8 and in- troduced the peer partners and reading pro- gram. Students from Room 8 will he paireu with students in Grade 3. Room 10. The Room 4 Alphabet is now finishing the Go -Bot and Transformer theme. On Friday for the last activity, the class will be making their own "desk top robots"' Jack Chisholm finished an activity this week also. He made a terrific "table -top - farm to go with a book he made' MILENA LOBB R R 2 CLINTON 4823062 Colborne welcomes Mrs. Rau The Grade 5 class, at Colborne Central School welcomed a new teacher for the afternoon session this week. Mrs. Linda Rau has now joined the staff of Colborne Central School. The Grade 5s have been busy getting ready for the Christmas Concert. They are practising their play and are in the process of painting large sketches of Winnie The Pooh to decorate the gym and advertise their production. This week Grade 3 at Colborne is helping the Grade 1 class write its story. Next week Grade 3 will be starting their multiplication facts. The Grade 4 and 5 classes are now in separate classes. The Grade 5 students are with Mr. Ross in the morning and with Mrs. Rau in the afternoon. The Grade 4 classes are with Mr. Harman. This week in creative writing, they started writing folders and are doing a space story in them. Students are learning about perimeter and area in math, and in science. They just finished a unit on plants. They are now doing a unit on fish. They just finished a unit on maps in Social Studies. '1
