Letherland. Roll call was answered and
'there were 19 members present and two
visitors.
EUCHRE RESULTS
There were seven tables in play at the
weekly euchre party which was held Tues-
day, Nov. 19 at the Community Hall. 'The
winners were: high lady, Jane Glousher;
low lady, Bernice McClinchey; high man,
Edgar Daer; low man, Murray Rollison and
novelty, Lillian Letherland.
UNIT II
Unit 11 of United Church Women met on
Wednesday, Nov. 13 in the basement of
Knox United Church.
Joyce Bean, Gail Dobie and Anne Vincent
were in charge of the meeting and chose as
their theme "War and Peace". A lively
discussion followed. Several readings were
given on the topic with everyone giving their
views.
Jean Plaetzer will be in charge ' of
Christmas gifts for area shut-ins. Ethel Ball

Mr. and Mrs. Orval McPhee spent a few
days last week visiting Mr. and Mrs. Allan
Tanner of Kitchener.
Several members of Auburn Women's In-
stitute and other ladies of the community
enjoyed a bus trip to Kitchener on Thursday
to see the musical "Carousel" held in the
Centre on the Square. Those attending were
Bernice Anderson, Dorothy Bennett., June
Peck, Marjorie McDougall, Lois Haines,
Evelyn Merrill, Marion Haggett, Beryl
Nicholson, Dorothy Grange and Ethel Ball.
Mr. and Mrs. Tom Lawlor and Mr. and
Mrs. Lloyd McLarty visited on Wednesday
with Mr. and Mrs. Frank McLarty of Brad-
ford.
Mr. and Mrs. Bert Allin of Agincourt
visited on the weekend with Beth Lansing.
Harold Baechler is a patient in St.
Joseph's Hospital, London following eye
surgery on Friday.
BOOSTER CLUB
The Booster Club's winner of the door
prize of a Ceramic Christmas Tree was Mrs.
Jim Lawlor of R.R. 5, Goderich. Half of the
Booster Club from their bake sale proceeds
go to the Huron County Family and
Children's Services Christmas Fund and
half to their own community project.
Legion will give $2000
for Christmas baskets
The general meeting of Goderich Legion
Branch for the month of November was held
in the Jubilee room with Branch First Vice -
President Alvin Blackwell in the chair.
Two new members were initiated into
Branch 109 namely Bob DeMars as an or-
dinary member and Donna Gail Smith as an
associate - voting member.
' Donations approved by the branch at this
meeting were $367.68 to the Goderich Atom
hockey : team, •.ftit'°Ahly'” purchase of 16
sweaters, $50 to the -Ladies Broomball
two sweaters and $100 to the Goderich Old
Timers hockey team.
The branch also approved the spending of
$2,000 from the branch welfare account by
the welfare chairman to purchase
Christmas baskets and gifts for veterans
and the widows of veterans.
The branch added five members to its
nomimal roll with the acceptance of or-
dinary member J.J. Quinlan as a transfer
from Branch 227 Sherwood Park Alberta,
the acceptance of J.K. Stoner and F.J. Dunn
as ordinary memtiers, the acceptance of
D.M. Mitchelmore as an associate - voting
member and the acceptance of G.E. Gren-
nay as an associate non-voting member.
The annual approval of 22 members for
honorary membership in Branch 109 was
also carried.
The branch poppy chairman reported that
the poppy fund received $2,400.50 from dona-
tions made during the annual house-to-
house canvass on Nov. 3. A total of 39
wreaths have been purchased and four win-
dows decorated to promote the Remem-
brance theme.
The branch sports chairman reports that
one team will be at the district cribbage in
Hespeler and one team at district euchre in
Durham. Sheets are posted for single and
w- tole darts in the1 randt►.
Tickets for the Legion Christmas Draw
Dance to be held on Friday, Dec. 13 are now
on sale at the branch. The
annual Legion Christmas party for the
children will be held on Dec. 15. New Year's
tickets are $20 for the Jubilee room and the
other two floors will also be open.
Leadership chairman Bob' Chapman
reports that another leadership seminar will
be held in January with the date and time to
be in the branch bulletin.
A delegation from the branch will take
part in the annual Seaman's Service and a
wreath will be placed by the branch.
The date of the annual Branch 109 Vimy
dinner will be Saturday, Apr. 12.
The next general meeting of Branch 109
will be on Tuesday, Dec. 3 at 7:30 p.m. in the
Jubilee room.
