Colborne Central students learn
pumpkins have many fun uses
Grade 1 at Colborne Central School had a
busy week. They made Halloween books and
sung spooky songs.
On Tuesday they went to the pumpkin
patch at Evan's Fruit Farm. Each one
received an apple, an ear of Indian corn and
a pumpkin picked right from the field.
They baked their class pumpkin and made
pumpkin tarts with real whipped cream.
They were delicious. Everyone had a super
time at the Halloween Party.
Thanks to the Grade 7/8 who organized it!
The trip to the Pumpkin Patch by
Kindergarten to Grade 2 was wonderful.
The children really sang their hearts out on
"How Many Miles to Bethlehem" while
travelling by bus.
The children in Grade 2 enjoyed learning
about Halloween. They went to nine centres
which involved reading, painting, writing,
research andath. The activities most
looked forward' to were making a skeleton
figure and a bat booklet. Everyone had a lot
of fun on Halloween day and night!
The Swings and "Tina Turner" were
popular attractions and the pumpkins were
carefully chosen and cared for. Many
follow-up activities culminated in a pum-
pkin folder to view and a pumpkin pie to eat.
The concensus on pumpkins was that they
are versatile and delicious!
