great team work. Andre Cauchi and Chris
O'Neill each had hat tricks,; Tim Harrison

day when Exeter comes to town.
Novice team defeats Parkhill 34
On Friday night the Goderich Novice
team travelled to Parkhill. It took a team ef-
fort, but the Goderich team came away with
a 34 victory.
Ken McClarty put Goderich on the board
in the first period. In the second period
Parkhill answered with a goal of their own
by Jamie Chalmers.
With the score tied 1-1 midway through
the second period, Goderich put the
pressure on and scored twice before the
period was over. The goals were scored by
Mike McBride and Bryan Hodges. Assists
went to Trevor McCauley and Dirk
Woolterbeek.
On Saturday the Shamrock Novice team
played Port Stanley at home and lost 4-3.
Penalties turned out to be a determining
factor in the game. There were only three
minors handed out, but they were all assess-
ed against the Goderich squad. Port Stanley
scored a powerplay goal to start their com-
eback.
In the first period Port Stanley opened the
scoring on a goal by Tyler Deer. Goderich
evened things up on a goal by Mike
McBride, assisted by Jeoff Donaldson.
Goderich went ahead early, in the second
period on a goal by Jason Gillard assisted by
McBride.
Donaldson put Goderich up by two early in
the third period. Port Stanley caught fire
and scored three quick goals to defeat
Goderich.
Mens Industrial hockey underway
In Goderich Industrial Hockey League ac-
tion on Wednesday, Oct. 16, Bedford
defeated Ernies 7-4.
Greg Beacom had two goals for Ernies.
Other Roadhouse scorers were Phil Petrie
and John Puts.
Willie Denomme, Mike Lapaine and Brian
Moody all had two goals to contribute to the
win. The other Bedford goal was scored by
John Hoy.
The game was virtually penalty free, with
only eight minutes in penalties being handed
out in the game.
. In the first period, Ernies got on the board
first. The Bedford managed to score three
times before the first period was over. At
the end of the first period, the score was 3-1.
The majority of the goals were scored in
the second period with the Bedford scoring
four and Ernies managing to get only one.
The score was 7-2 after two periods.
In the third period, the Roadhouse manag-
ed to shutdown the Bedford attack, but they
only managed to score two goals.
In Mens' Industrial Hockey action on Oct.
20, Bedford defeated last year's defending
Industrial League champion Sunset 4-2.
It was a penalty -filled game with a
number of altercations erupting. There was
a total of 36 minutes in penalties and two
game misconducts handed out in the con-
test. Both ejections were given to the Sunset
team.
Bedford got on the board early in the con-
test on a goal by Mark Frayne. The other
Bedford goal scorers were Phil Paquette,
John Hoy and Mike Lapaine.
The Sunset goal scorers were Ticker Mero
and Phil Arthur.
The Bedford team scored two goals in the
opening period. The teams exchanged
markers in the second and third periods.
Sunset tried valiantly to get the goals back
that they had given up, but they fell short.
In a real thriller Oct. 20 at the Goderich
arena. Green Machine beat the Porkers 8-7.
The game was well played with only one
minor penalty handed out in the game.
The Porkers opened the scoring on a goal
by Rob Standen. The goal turned out to be
his first of three in the game. Other Porker
scorers were Tim Obrien, Tom Obrien,
Doug Roulston and Dan Duncan.
Tag Sowerby had a hat trick, and Bruce
Schoeff had two goals to spearhead the
Green Machine team to victory over the
Porkers. Other Green Machine scorers were
Bill Lewis, Ted Ingham and Russ Jessop.
In the first period the Porkers got on the
board first. Then the Green Machine got
things rolling and managed to score three
goals in the first period. The Porkers
managed to get another before the period
was over and it was 3-2 after one.
In the opening minutes of the second
period Green Machine went up by two goals
and minutes later added another goal to go
up by three. But the Porkers weren't finish-
ed yet as they went onto score three
unanswered goals to tie the score at 5-5.
-The Porkers went in front 6-5 in the open-
ing minutes of the third period. But the
' Green Machine pulled things together and
scored three quick goals. The Porkers
managed to get a goal in the dying minutes
of the game, but that was all they could get.
The Green Machine remained undefeated
after three games into the season.
