The Ladies win- ners were; (from left to right) Marg Evans, 1st low gross,,Championship Day, Maxine Mar- tin, 1st low gross Championship Day, Bertha McGee -Scotch two ball, Mary Lepaine-Scotch two ball, Verna Kane was Ladies club champion, the Maitland trophy and was Rosebowl runner-up, Joan McDougall was the Rosebowl winner and the Club champion rumler-up, Bev Jeffrey won most improved golfer and Edna Looker was Maitland trophy runner-up. Championship day held at Maitland Championship Day, Sept. 21, dawned damp and drizzly. But still, the first group of hien tee -ed off on time. After a brief shower, the weather improved. A lot of the golf didn't, but there were a few good rounds. Maxine Martin won Low Gross in the 1st flight, Joan McDougall won 2nd flight, Chris Hoffmeyer, the 3rd flight, and Marg Evans won the 9 -hole flight. In the men's competition, while most everyone struggled with fast greens_ and tough pin placements, Jack Hoffmeyer calmly shot a 79 to win the Men's Night Championship. Other Men's winners were Tony Bedard, Bob McDougall, Gerry Morgan, Ross McDaniel. Jack Hinton, Don MacEwan, ,Jack Gould and John Garrett. After a great dinner by Chef Ben and his staff, trophies were presented to the year's winners. Ladies' Golf Champion is Verna Kane. The runner up is Joan McDougall. The Rosebowl . Champion is Joan McDouRrill. Verna Kane won the Maitland Trophy. The Scotch 2 -ball winners were Mary Lapaine and Bertha McGee. The Mrs. Bruce Trophy for most improv- ed lady golfer went to Bev Jeffrey for the se- cond year in a row. The Pin ,Day winger is Jean Knight. ON THE BALL et the Maitland YI✓' The Men's Maitland trophy"wiuuers were; (from left to right) John Garret and he won the Papernick Trophy, Murray McGill won most improved golfer, Jack Hoffmeyer was the Men's night champion, MacEwan Egener was the Men's club champion, Ken Hall was the B flight champion, Tony Bedard was teh two ball champion, and John Stringer was the C flight champion. The winner of the C flight Championship was John Stringer. The Papernick Trophy was won by John Garrett. The 2 -ball Cham- pions are Tony Bedard and Bill Cochrane. Jack Hoffmeyer won the 18 -hole Senior's . Championship. The 9 -hole Senior's Cham- pion is Bill Cochrane. Murray McGill won the Kane Trophy for the most improved golfer in the men's section. There was a good turnout for the ladies' closing on Tuesday and everyone was a win- ner'- The golf and tennis ladies joined for dinner, and then were entertained by a new- ly formed mime group from GDCI. The hockey fans of Goderich can look forward to better things ' from their Jr. C team. •'We -are looking at every game as a learn- ing experience. We are new in the league and we are just starting to get our feet wet. A lot of our guys haven't played together and we have to bring them along. In the Walkerton game Sunday night we took a number of dumb penalties. We have to use a little more self-discipline.
