Hospital staffer speaks to WMS
The W.M.S. of Knox Presbyterian Church,
met in the Sunday Schoolroom at 12:30 on
June 18 for a pot luck luncheon.
Mrs. R. McAllister asked Mrs. E. Ed-
wards to introduce her guest, Mrs. Robert
McTavish, of Shakespeare, who is first vice-
president of Huron Perth Presbyterial. In
her remarks, she asked us not to hesitate in
taking a position when Nominating Commit-
tee calls on us this fall. For With Faith in
God's Help and Prayer we can do all Things.
- Mrs. McAllister thanked her and introduc-
;ed Miss Susan Taylor, deaconess whg, will
assist in the congregation during summer.
Minutes of last meeting were read by Mrs.
W. Sanderson.
Treasurer's Report was given. A Lice
Membership Certificate was presented to
Mrs. G. Young for her long and faithful ser-
vice to the Society.
Mrs. Royal then took over. The hymn, '
"He Leadeth Me" was sung. Mrs. G. Young
read scripture John 23 verses 1 to 21. Mrs. O.
Falkiner led in prayer.
Mrs. Royal then introduced Miss Jean
Scott, RN, who works at the Alexandra and
Marine Hospital in Goderich. She told us of
her belief, of .the part that faith in God and
prayer had in the recovery of many ill pa-
tients. She closed with prayer.
Mrs. Royal thanked her and closed with
all repeating the Lord's Prayer and Mizpah
Benediction.
Mrs. McAllister added her thanks and
declared the meeting adjourned.
At a special dinner on June 10th, Dot Scott of the Goderich Kinette Club was
presented with the Elspeth Rogers Life Membership Award. Shown presenting the
award on the left is Dot's daughter, Sandra Pollock, president of the Goderich
Kinettes and on the right, Charlene Gerrnuska„District Kinette Co-ordinator. Dot
has been active in the Goderich Club for over 25 years. A life membership is the
highest honor that can be awarded in the Kin Association.
Adele Drennan was recently honoured with ,the
Kinette of the Year Award. Presenting the Award is
life member and Charter President of the Goderich
Kinettes, Grace Patterson. Adele was also installed
as Zone K co-ordinator for 1985-86.
Branch 109 to host Post 18 comrades
The regular meeting of Legion Branch 109
for the month of June was held in the Jubilee
Room with first vice-president Alvin
Blackwell in the chair.
Two new members were iniatiated into
membership in the Branch by comrades Les
Riley and Harold Chambers.
Donations, having a total value of $1,275.
were approved by the floor. These donations
include $200 to Goderich Minor Soccer, $75
to the Lady Diana Nursery School, $125 to
the Goderich Figure Skating Club, $75 to the
Huron -Perth Lung Association, $125 to the
Red Cross, $75 to the Multiple Sclerosis
Society and $600 to the Town of Goderich
towards the cost of the Canada Day celebra-
tions.
The applications of five new members
were accepted into Branch 109. These new
members include Albert Marsden from
Windsor Branch 255 as an ordinary
member, Donna Gail Smith as an associate
member, Stephen Bidwell, Donna Leppinton
and Donald Parker as fraternal affiliate
members. Simon Langlois was granted an
Honorary membership. -

A bus will leave the Legion at 8 a.m. on
August 11 for the trip to Fergus and will then
proceed to Owen' Sound for the Zone C-4
Drumhead service at 7:30 p.m. The cost is
$6.00 per person for the bus.
Comrade Carolyn Holborn was named the
Branch membership chairman and Roy
Mugford will be the new chairman of
Veterans and Aging Services. The following
appointments to the Branch executive were
made: Don McArthur as service officer,
Harold Beadle as canteen chairman, Bill
Burke as ways and means chairman, Ron
Stewart as " entertainment chairman,
Howard Carroll as track and field and also
jubilee chairman, Don Kernick as sergeant
at arms, Alex Gauley as assistant sergeant
at arms, Bill Finnie as assistant treasurer,
Bea Dowell as assistant secretary, and Stan
Profit as liaison officer to the Ladies Aux-
iliary. Rev. Royal is the branch padre
assisted by Rev. Crocker and Rev. Wood.
A motion was approved giving the ex-
ecutive power to act during the summer
months and until the first regular meeting of

A motion was also passed directing the
finance committee to recommend a suitable
financial donation to the Central Ontario
Tornado Relief Fund.
During the Canada Day weekend from
June 28 to July 1 the Branch will play host to
our American visitors from Legion Post 18
Bay City and other tourists in town for that
weekend. A full program of Branch ac-
tivities has been planned. There will be dan-
cing in the Vimy lounge on Friday evening.
A Diamond Jubilee dance will be held in the
Jubilee room on Saturday night at which
time special awards will be made. On,Sun-
day the Ladies Auxiliary will host a Friend-
ship Breakfast and a levee will be held at the
Branch in the afternoon. On Monday, July 1
the Branch colour party and a Legion Dia-
mond Jubilee float will take part in the an-
nual Canada Day parade. The Jubilee 50 - 50
draw will take place at the Legion after the
parade.
The next meeting of the Branch executive
will be held on Tuesday, July 30 at 7:30 p.m.
in the Jubilee room.

STANDING FUEL WOOD FOR SALE
To improve growing conditions for valuable trees, the Ministry of Natural Resources is
thinnitg a woodlot in Stanley Township, and is assisting the woodlot owner in selling
marked standing trees to a reputable fuelwood contractor.
Fuelwood Volume: approximately 90 standard cords (one standard cord equals 128
cubic feet) and tops.
Location: approximately 3 miles south of Bayfield.
The fuelwood will be sold as one lump sum to one contractor • no partial sales
