Marauders win twice in ball hockey
Upsets prevailed in Goderich Recreation
Ball Hockey League games this week, as
first -place United lost to the Rebels, with
both teams playing badly undermanned and
the Marauders turned around a prolonged
losing streak with a pair of victories.
In June 18 action:
The Marauders' -put together a strong
forechecking disply and squeezed by the
Warriors 1-0. Ray Vanstone scored the goal
for the Marauders, assisted by Kevin
Talbot. Goaltender Chris Sideris recorded
the shutout.
United edged the Sherwood Express crew
5-3, in a see -saw game that saw the lead
change hands several times. Ron Sowerby
scored twice for United, with Brian
Shewfelt, Rob McDonald and Bill Lewis
each netting one. Bill Peters contributed
two assists to the United effort. Tom Smith
converted two Rick Anderson passes for
Sherwood, with Philip Wood also assisting
on the first of Smith's goals. Brent William-
son also scored for Sherwood.
The Brewers and the Rebels battled to a 1-
1 draw. Rebels' Brad Armstrong scored the
first goal of the game, assisted by Perry
Hoak. Jim Young replied for the Brewers,
with Robin Moore assisting. Both goals
came in the second period.
On June 20:
The Rebels squeezed by United 2-1. United
only fielded six players for this contest and
the Rebels played with only eight. Brad
Armstrong and Darrin Moore scored for the
Rebels. Phil Arthur netted the United goal.
The Marauders breezed through a 7-1
shellacking of the Brewers, blasting in three.
goals in the first period and four in the se-
cond frame. Chris Sideris lost his bid for his
second consecutive shutout just under three
minutes into the second frame, when Tom
Profit scored the Brewers' goal. Phil Petrie,
scored twice for the Marauders, while Kevin
Telford and Kevin Talbot each scored a goal
and two assists. Darren Doak, Patrick Raf-
tis and Ray Vanstone scored singles.
Express outscored the Warriors 7-4. The

two goals and an assist for the Warriors and
Collin Alexander had a pair of goals.
Flyers and Titans win in minor ball hockey
The Flyers topped the Leafs 5-3, in
Goderich Minor Ball Hockey action, on June
19.
Dave Duncan scored twice, and added an.
assist to the Flyers total. Todd Wilson, An-
dre Cauchi and B. Allen also scored one goal
each for the Flyers.
The Flyers had built up a 4-0 lead, with on-,
Goderich Raceway opens on Thursday
ly 5:28 remaining in the game, before the
Leafs finally got on the scoreboard. The
Leafs .then drew within one, on goals by
Dave Brown, Scott Garrow and Ian McKin-
non, but the Flyers killed their rally with an
insurance marker in the last minute of play:
After falling behind by one, the Titans
came back with five unanswered goals to
whip the Trojans 5-1, in another June 19 con-
test.
Rob Middel scored the lone Trojan
marker, just 54 seconds into the first period.
. Pat Frayne scored twice for the Titans,
and Tim Wilson, Mark Cauchi and Shawn

in with a pair of assists.
