My name is LAURA GILBERT and I turn-
ed five on June '11. I live on a farm called
"Naturally Pigs" on RR 6 Goderich with my
parents and my younger brother. I am look-
ing forward toschool in September.

My friends Lindsay Culbert and Michael
Mahon helped me celebrate at a He -Man
party.

My name is Abigail McLellan and I will be
two years old tomorrow, June 13. I have a
big brother, Benjamin, who teaches me lots
of things - including the art of self-defense!

Grade ones
win prizes
in contest
Grade One entered the Post Office Colour-
ing Contest, We had 3 winners: Amanda
Bentley was 2nd. Wesley Drennan, was 3rd
and Tracy Dungale won 5th.
A representative from the Post Office
came and presented special prizes to our
winners as well as giving all participants a
treat for their fine efforts.
Grade 2 is enjoying the Pioneer Unit. The
children are learning to spin wool with a..
drop spindle and finding out how much work
it was to make iioolen 'clothing from a
sheep's fleece. Now a days, spinning is fun.
Grade 2-3 find the "study of Indians very in-
teresting. Mrs.Kerr has brought in many ex-
amples of Indian handicrafts to share.
Grades 3, 4 and 5 enjoyed their trip to the
Ontario Agricultural Museum near Milton.
We 'were especially impressed with the
slaughterhouse and the food cooked in the
open fireplace.
On Friday, June 7 the children attending
Kindergarten next year attended school .for
the first time. One half came on the bus in
the morning and left with their parents at
noon while the other half came in the after-
noon and went home on the bus..
The staff and students of Colborne Central
invite you to attend an "Appreciation Day -
Open House" on Tuesday, June 18 in honor
of Mrs. Shirley Dustow's years of service to
our school.
The students will present a program at
2:3(1 p.m. Afterwards, from 3:30 to 5:00 will
be a time to visit with Mrs. Dustow. We ex-
tend a -warm welcome to former students,
parents and friends, to attend this special
occasion.
Members compete
in 4-H judging day
On Saturday, May '25th2 a group of 152 4-H
members competed in the Huron County 4-H
Judging Competition. Winning top honours
in the Novice class was Shanalee TenHag,
RR 1, Auburn. Highest score in the Juniors
was that of Lana Jones, RR 2, Clinton. The
High Senior was Sandy Shelley, RR 2, Gor-
rie. Top Intermediate, Mike McGregor, RR
2, Kippen also had top score over all. The
scores were based on their ability to judge
nine classes including dairy cattle and blue
jeans.
