ERB
In loving memory of our beloved mother,
daughter and sister, Verna Arlene Erb, who
passed away one year ago, June 14, 1984.
There is nothing so treasured and nothing so
rare,. -
As a love that a mother and daughter can share.
Through joy, through laughter, through sorrow
and tears,
There develops a closeness that grows through
the years.
This love that we shared doesn't need to be
spoken,
It's a wonderful bond that can never be broken.
No one can know the sorrow we share
When the family meets and you are not there.
We hold our tears when we speak your name,
But the ache in our hearts remains the same.
We're thinking of you
But that's nothing new.
We thought about you yesterday,
And the day before that too.
We will think of you tomorrow,
And each doy as they come and go,
We will think of you forever,
Because we love and miss you so.
Sadly missed -and lovingly remembered by her
mother Ivodel! Schram, sister Adell Draper and
son Warren. -24x
CAREY
In loving memory of a dear husband and father,
James Carey, who passed away so suddenly, five
years ago, June 11, 1980.
No one knows the sad heartaches,
Only those who have loved can tell
The grief we bear in silence,
For the one we loved so well.
Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his
wife Marjorie and son Paul. -24

LETTERS
Dear Editor:
I graduated from Central Public School in
1949. At that time my family moved from
Goderich. I was there for one day ten years
ago and I'm returning for a few days the
first week in July. I was born there July 4,
1935.
The move from Kintail to Goderich in 1945
and my four years there were my
childhood's fondest.
Would it be ppopssible for you to inform me
if any of my classmates live in the vicinity?
These are names I remember: Eleanor
Lauder, Jane Graham, Sheila Gallow, Jean
Langlois, Lorne Rivers, Malcolm Campbell,
Ted MacLean, Doug Patterson, Bill Mac-
Donald, Catherine MacDonald and Bob
Banter (Goderich, July 4, 1935). Any
assistance would be greatly appreciated.
It was amazing how unchanged the town
was ten years ago. I'm aware that recession
has caused changes but I am very excited
about our forthcoming trip.
Waiting to hear from you and thanks.
Yours truly,
Jean Anne Holle

If we are to

must refuse
the cruise -
Dear editor,
Regarding last weeks tornadoes in
Southern Ontario, we need only to multiply
the deaths and damage by a million, or two,
and we arrive at what President Reagan
must consider "acceptable losses", as we
listen to his assinine utterances re chances
of winning a "limited nuclear war".
If we are to survive, Canadians must con-
stantly act and speak against this madness.
We must "refuse the Cruise", have no part
of "Star Wars", get out and stay out of
NATO, and maintain a policy of strict
neutrality.
Provocation, not protection, is all we
would net from any military alliance with
the United States.

Smiley column
Dear editor,
What a pleasant surprise to open the
paper and find Bill Smiley's column "Sugar
and Spice" once more in place! My family
andl are delighted that he has_beenr_et_urn-
ed to us.
Also, in the previous week's edition was a
picture of Joanne Campbell coming down to
the finish line. It's easy to see what makes
her a winner, total concentration on her face
and every muscle doing its work with easy
grace and balance.
Congratulations to Joanne and also to the
photographer for catching this sports gem.
Sincerely,
( Mrs.) Jean Knight.
Water in fancy
cup cost $1.25
Dear Editor, -
Saturday . night, June 8th, 1985 my
boyfriend and I went to the drive-in and
decided to' get popcorn while we watched the
movies.
I went into the food concession booth and
ordered popcorn, a large orange pop and
one large cup of water (I couldn't drink any
pop, and there was no milk so I ordered
water) .
The girt rang the order in the till and ask-
ed for $3.55. I asked how much the water
was and she said $1.25.
She explained that I had to pay for the cup
because they take inventory of the cups
before the night starts. FANCY CUP FOR
$1.25.
Next time I am going to bring my own fan-
cy cup and fill up at the tap outside.
