It is the Red Cross. In the past six months, we Canadians look- ed beyond our own shores to a far-off land — Ethiopia. We had finally been, confronted with a famine that was leaving millions of people destitute. • Confronted by those heartrending scenes of human misery, people dug deep into their pockets and provided the Red Cross with money for direct aid to the people suffering in the African famine. Their contributions helped swell the money raised by the Red Cross to $5.1 million. But the need goes on. There is always a gap between food production and hunger. We thank people for their generosity. But we remind you that the need goes on and en- courage you to continue to help by giving generously through the Red Cross. One hundred cents of every dollar given to Red Cross goes to the relief effort chosen by the donor. Red Cross has been operating feeding stations in drought and famine rid- den countries such as Ethiopia for Many years. It has always maintained complete control over the money donated and the sup- plies that are purchased and shipped under the supervision of the Red Cross delegate on site. May is Red Cross Month in Goderich. Act today. Your gift of time or money can make the difference to someone who may not survive without it. 77- ikait 4 6.1'0 DAft E o Ej.'Rmora ALL ADVERTISING AND NEWS COPY: SHOULD BE IN OUR OFFICE FRIDAY MAY 17th LATE NEWS COPY WILL BE ACCEPTED TUESDAY, MAY 21st UNTIL 10 A.M.
