(photo by Patrick Raftis) Area youngsters learn babysitting Organizers were amazed at the popularity of the babysitting, course held at the Goderich Legion Branch 109, on Saturday. Sixty youngsters aged 11 -and -over took part in the day -long course and Legion Branch Chairman Gary Renaud said there was a waiting list of another 20 children and teenagers who applied. Due to the popularity of the course, Renaud said another will be held sometime this summer and still another course is plan- ned for next fall. St. John Ambulance Society instructors taught First Aid and CPR to the students. The Goderich police' and fire departments and local OPP detachment explained emergency procedures and Helen Bowie and Louise Graham explained child care. Bowie and Graham are home health care in- structors from Toronto. Those' attending the course received in- struction in lifting, carrying, bathing, feeding and diapering babies. The course in - ended accident prevention tips, saftey in- formation as well as information on qualifications, preparation and ethics of babysitting. Participants were required to take a writ- ten examination as part of the course. Boards working well together on Catholic high school issue BY STEPHANIE LEVESQUE A "real spirit .of co-operation" exists between the Huron County board of educa- tion and the Hliron-Perth Roman Catholic separate school board. Trusteee John Jewitt,chairman of the separate school extension committee, said he is proud of the way his committee and its counterpart with the separate school board are working together. The committee has met twice, once by itself and once with the Huron -Perth school board's committee. At that meeting, the Catholic school board committee presented its tentative plan which calls for sharing facilities at Central Huron Secondary school ' in Clinton. This would house Huron's Catholic high school students. Director of education Bob Allen said the, board will make its impact statement at its' June meeting.
