Seaforth home
THE FORMER McKELLAR HOUSE at 116 Goderich St W. in Seaforth has been an object of
admiration and curiosity to area residents for some time. The large frame home was built in the
early part of the twentieth century bY Henry B. Edoe. then a local contractor and owner orthe
town's hardware store. The Edge family, consisting of Mr. Edge, his wife and fhree children
lived in the house unt111935 when It was purchased by Malcolm and Lillian McKellar. After her
husband's death Mrs. McKellar continued to live in the home, which the family owned for 50
years. It is purported that Mrs. McKellar fell in love with the home because of its stained glass
portrayal of birds. Other stained glass in the house includes a portrait of sorts of William
Drummond, a then well-known poet. The home was purchased in January of this year by Perry
and Barbara Broome, who plan to maintain and• restore the home.
