Outrageous activities compete
for the Pink. Sneaker Trophy
Canadian youth will kick-off National
Physical Activity Week (NPAW) on Friday,
May 24, 1985 with MOGA Madness, the most
spectacular physicalextravaganza this
country has ever seen. From the hundreds
of zany, fun -filled activities staged that day
by high school students across the country,
one will be proclaimed "The Most
Outrageous Group Activity" ever held.
The wining event could be anything from'
a giant Leap Frog line two miles long to a
huge Stadium Wave with over 1000 students.
It could involve an entire school in a
massive game of Musical Chairs on a foot-
ball field or a Bunny Hop dance around the
town. The only limit to the ideas from
MOGA Madness events is the imaginations
of _themad_organizers
Thejudges will have a difficult task of
choosing the MOGA from the many colour-
ful events expected. Judging will be based in
part on the percentage of the school popula-
tion that actively participates in the event.
As well, the event must involve continual
physical activity of all participants for at
least 10 minutes. Above all, the MOGA must
be utterly outrageous, visually impressive
and very creative. By Friday, May 31, the
Winner of MOGA Madness will be declared
and theschool will be awarded The Giant
Pink Sneaker Trophy named in its honour.
MOGA Madness is organized by The Na-
tional Youth Fitness Council, a committee
of Canadian youth brought together by
Fitness Canada. This nation-wide activity
for youth is offered as part of National
Physical Activity Week, and in celebration
of Internation Youth Year, 1985.

Seniors' walk proposed.
An exciting new activity has been propos-
ed for National Physical Activity Week,
(NPAW) 1985 that could have Canadians 55
years and over walking to the moon! This is
the goal of Elderobic Moonwalk, an event
where the walkingefforts of thousands of
seniors . wil be combined to total 238,000
miles (383,000 kilometres), or the distance
to the moon.
From May 25 to June 2, each walk around
the block or stroll across town by a par-
ticipating senior or group of seniors will be
added to the cumulative total. Seniors clubs
across the country are invited to organize a
social event during NPAW with walking as
the key component. A picnic, barbecue or
dance are only a few of the fun' activities
that could be offered in conjunction with a
group walk.
With the assistance of provincial seniors
association, the' distance covered by par:
ticipating clubs will be collected and totall-
ed. On Wednesday, June 12, 1985, the un-
precedented achievement of Canadians 55
years and over walking to the moon will be
announced.
This "out of the world" activity is organiz-
ed by The Navigational Committee on the
Elderobic Moonwalk , with assistance from
the National Pensioners and Senior Citizens
Federation and Fitness Canada. For more
