Wintario
will be part\
of.1-5-0
celebrations
Word was just received that Goderich
Township will be the host of a Wintario pro-
gram this summer.
Two years ago the executive of the 1-5-0
committee applied to the 'Wintario pro-
ducers for this honor. Gerry Ginn reapplied
again early in the year on behalf of Goderich
Township 1-5-0 and was very ple .sed to
relay the announcement that the Winat`rio
show will be held on Thursday, July 18 as
part of the Tpwnship's special week.
This announcement took place after tWin-
tario technical directors took a tour of the
local facilities. The Clinton Arens} 'was
chosen as the site because of its site 'and
central location.
The Township Shed had been considered
but the Passe Muraille Theatre play, Fatm
Shaw was scheduled. Having it outside the
township will create a healthy district flavor
for the sesquicentennial activities.
The show will begin at 7:10 with some
local talent, followed up with an hour long
program provided by the producers of Win-
tario. Everyone will be welcome and tickets
will go on sale soon for $3, which .includes
one Wintario ticket.
People, buying the Hitch Wagon Plates
have expressed a great deal of satisfaction
with the design and appearance. Many, were
concerned about how to hang them so they
would be safe. The 1-5-0 committ in
charge of the plates has come to those eo-•
ple's rescue.
They will offer frames for sale to mount
the plates. The frames are made frbm
walnut, oak and some of cherry.
Round frames which are open at, the back
so the inscription can be read will 'cost $25.
Larger octangular frames having a velvet
border with the color of your own choice will
be $30. The backs of these octangular
frames are covered. Frames must • be
ordered.
To make it handy, the plates ($15), mugs
($10). and books ($251 are all available for
sate at Abbott's Hohnesville General Store.
The committee was thrilled that Anne and
Darrell would provide this service for their
community.
Special talents of individuals that lay hid-
den before have regularly been uncovered
this special year. The latest was the song
writing talent of Gerry Ginn .which was
presented to the April 1-5-0 meeting with
rave reviews. The first public performance
of this song will be announced later so that
Gerry's township song can be shared with
everyone:

the position.
The 1985 Municipal budget was reviewed
by the treasurer and By-law No. 12-1985 was
approved and given all required readings by
council to set the mill rate levy for 1985. The
by-law also sets the dates for payment of the
second and third tax instalments. The com-
bined mill rate for 1985 is 262.49, up by 7.24
mills or 2.84 percent over the 19$5 mill rate.
However; for the second year in a row, the
township government's share of the mill
rate has decreased. The mill rate for
township government purposes is set at
76.19, down 3.13 mills; from the 1984 rate;
44.71 mills for Huron County purposes, an in-
crease of 1.31 mills over the 1984 rate; and
134:25 mills for the Huron County Board of
Education, an increase of 9.06 mills over the
1984 rate, for a total' combined rate of 262.49
mills.
The matter of a dust problem on the
sideroad between Lots 5 and 6 in Conces-
sions 2 and 3 .E.D., because of increased
heavy truck traffic, was discussed by coun-
cil. Because the road re -gravelling program
should be underway in about one month,
council expressed reluctance to get involved
with calcium chloride oi' oil- control but
recommended a heavy application of salt
immediately and as needed to be followed
up with an .oil application after the new
gravel is'down.
Only one building permit has been issued
since April 2nd, that to' Peter Holland, non-
resident owner of Lot 2, Concession 9 E.D.,
to remove exterior stucco finish, insulate,
and reapply exterior 'finish to the house.
David Bere, Dungannon, is the contractor. ,
The Clerk reported that the Engineer's
report on the proposed improvement and ex
tension to the Jewell Drainage Works had
been filed with him by the drainage
engineer on April 16th, and a date could now
be set for a meeting for the consideration of
the report. The time and date was set for
8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 9th, at the
township community hall and all interested
property owners are to be so advised and
provided with a copy of the report.
Applications for tile drainage loans were
considered for Philip Clark to tile drain
parts of Lots 9 and 10, Concession 7, Eastern
Division and for Douglas Stoll for the tile
---drainage-of-prof Yots3-aa44. foncessien- -
8, Western Division. Both applications were
approved subject to the availability of funds
and compliance with provincial and
municipal policy requirements.
The meeting was adjourned to 8:00 p.m.
on Tuesday, May 7, 1985.
