Birdwatching

During my long tenure as�_a
runner I've :Seen all kinds of
runners collie and go: Like
birds, there are many varieties
which if you're watchful, you
too can cone upon. •i"hesc are a
few of the many species of
runner that I've classified:
A) The Kafnikazee
This outward. little guy can
usually be seen running traffic
lights and ignoring signs. "i'he
biological reason for this is selt-
imp-tsed blindness and the I.Q.
of a simple piece of furniture.
The desire to become a hood
ornament explains why they
prefer to camouflage themselves
by wearing dark clothes' at
night.
B) The Texan
Like its namesake these runners
like to sprawl themselves
around. They. usually travel in
Owns of two or three and you
can usually find them running
silk -by -side in any • major
traffic lane. .
C) 1 he Anti -Socialite
'Mese reclusive runners can he
easily distinguished by the fact
that they mouth the words to
the songs filtering through
their headset. 11you are easily
hurt by lack of acknowledge-
ments, give this species a wide
berth.
D) Misplaced Californians
Poor sense of direction has led
these sunshine boys/gals to our
Northern climate. Does this
deter these brave runners? No
way. Easily distinguishable by
red -coloured exposed skin
(specifically legs, hands, arms)
from insufficient clothing in
sub-zero,weather.
F) The Optimist
Closely related to the above
species we find the Optimist.
Usually found inside waiting for
the thermometer to creep up
anywhere above WC, whereupon
they dash out in shorts and
shirts. This species is extremely
rare and can only he found for
10 — 15 minutes and only on
sunny days.
