Don't move Laird's beloved
weenie wagon from The Square
Dear editor,
What is this crisis about the possibility of
relocating Laird's mobile canteen from the
corner of Hamilton Streets and The Square
that I read about.
First 'off, what about deputy -reeve John
Doherty's brilliant remark about it being a
safety hazard for children if the wagon was
moved to the inside of the Square. Very
clever.
Are the Royal Bank customers really that
scared or nervous of the people they en-
counter at night who nibble tenderly on their
gourmet delights? These must be•the same
hooligans which will be hanging around the
LETTERS
new Macs that isn't built yet.
And loitering you say. Now why wouldn't
they? with about 87 benches on The Square
and Courthouse Park lawn the whole con-
cept says to me; relax, sit down and rest
your tired hooves. Cut itout now.
This bank manager thinks he has pro-
blems with the odd 'escaped french fry or
runaway bun or wrapper. I will buy him four
hot dogs, with double onions, let him wolf
them down, then go home and try to sleep.
They will have their revenge all night long
sand talk back so loudly that he will need a
noise permit. This man should be
transferred for even thinking that Laird
move his beloved weenie wagon.
The Square without it would be like the
harbour without ships. Perish the thought. If
I had an account I would withdraw every
penny in protest.
As Marlon said in the movie Apocalypse
Now, "Oh the horror ! The horror of it all."

Goderich Little Theatre to stage
topical play on anti-semitism
The Goderich Little Theatre has chosen a
topical play for their next production, in
their decision to stage "The Diary of Anne
Frank".
In this year, the 48th anniversary of The
Holocaust, which resulted in the death of
millions of Jewish people during World War
II, this play offers a dramatic portrayal of
the plight of Jews at the time.
The play is an "extremely difficult" one to
' stage and creating the set is a "challenge in
itself," says GLT publicity director Barbara
McCloud.
Cast as Anne Frank, the young Jewish girl
who chronicled the events that transpired
while her family hid from the Nazis, is Col-
leen Maguire.
Floyd Herman, of the Blyth area will por-
tray her father, while Mrs. .Frank will be
played by Diane Mitchelmore.
Other members of the ten -person cast
are: Margaret J. Hill, as Miep; Maureen
Penn, as Mrs. Vaan Daan; Wayne Lyons as
Mr. Vaan Daan; Jeff Hearn, as Peter Vaan
Daan; Don Siemon, as Mr. Kraler and Craig
Cass as Mr. Dussel.
Former Goderich resident William Neil is
directing the production, in co-operation
with assistant director June Hill.
The play will run for four nights, from
Wednesday, April 24 to Saturday April 27, at
The Livery. Tickets will be available in ad-
vance at the box office and rush seats can be
purchased at the door befoe each perfor-
mance.
