world to him.
"It's a very expensive hobby. It takes a
few thousand dollars a year to run the farm,
but the cost depends on how many little
animals we have in any one year," Mrs.
Mary Parks said.
According to Mrs. Parks the money that is
now;'used to keep the farm operating could
be spent in other ways.
The hobby farm is made up of 11 acres of
pastures, ponds and hills. There are 10 deer,
10 h,-1111, ghPPn a Vnk, pigeons. i`hioken'::lnd
silkies.
The fate of the farm will be certain in a
months time when Mrs. Parks brothers ar-
rive and assess the situation.
According to Mr. Cook a worker on the
farm, he has pooled the opinions of several
area farmers and they would be willing to
donate feed and hay to the farm. In the
hopes that it may continue.
"People come from all over to see the
farm, last week a family came to see the
farm and they were from Durham," Mr.
There are also deer on the hobby farm. The
deer are still as they sense an unfamiliar
visitor to their home. The deer will soou be
running loose around the grounds of the
farm as the grounds harden. (?hoto by Todd
