Ben . Stadelmann and Bob Dick got together for some hard-hitting Level 1 matches, and Ben was successful in advancing to the nowls by winnimeets Mark Maurer to two straight contend for the Club Championship. The Level 1 finals always attract max- imum attention from the other club members, and the games are of top-notch calibre. There was some action in the Level 4 finals, as Barry Page and John Crawford played their first game. Both played very cautiously and the first check came late in the game. Atthat point, it was fairly even, but Barry's knight sacrifice proved unsuc- cessful and was the turning Point of the game which allowed John to syStematical- ly carry out his mating moves.. Next week you may see the conclusion of all the finals; so look out for the names of all the level winners and the most improv- . ed player.
