Easter celebration
planned in Goderich Twp.
Easter will be celebrated around the
world this • coming Sunday. The Ses-
quieentennial Committee in Goderich
Township felt that this would be an ap-
propriate time to think of the heritage they
have been given.
Bob Elliot, chairperson of the Church ser-
vices committee in Goderich Township felt
that it was fitting that in the 150th year the
residents think ,of blessings that they have
'been given and that on this anniversary of
the triumph over death they join in
thankfulness and worship for what has been
received. .
A service, called an Easter Celebration,
will be held in the Township Community
Centre on Easter Sunday, April 7, at 2:00
p.m. As people arrive : they will be greeted
by a large stone shape; created by grade 4
pupils at Holmesville school, representing•
the stone that was rolled away from the
tomb. Rising in .the background will be the
three crosses symbolic of the saviour.
saviour. -
The Celebration will begin with the
trumpets announcing the good news,
"Christ has risen." A Sesquicentennial
choir of 50 voices will assist in telling the
story of the Resurrection. A slide presenta-
tion depicting the Biblical and present times
will run simultaneously to supplement the
musical numbers.
A coffee hour will follow the service and
everyone will be invited to stay. This service
is special in its presentation, but will be
especially of interest to those who enjoy
Easter music and fellowship. Everyone is
welcome.
The March 1-5-0 events are now over and
the Committee was very pleased with the at-
tendance at the activities. 'they appreciate
the support and interest of the residents of
the area. It makes the planning and organiz-
ing seem very worthwhile.
Many Committee members attended the
fun curling spiel at the Vanastra curling
Club on March 23. Teams were created by
mixing Goderich and Tuckersmith
Township Sesquicentennial committee
members. The purpose was to get ac-
quainted with neighboring residents and
share ideas about the two celebrations.
Everyone seemed to really enjoy the day
and comments were made that that kind of
activity should be done far more often. Both
townships will get together on the ball
diamonds during the special July week that
each has planned. Those that planned the
day are thanked for their great effort.
The final special Assistance Day for the
Family History Book was held on Sunday
March 31. Once again the weather was un•il
cooperative when it provided sleet and
freezing rain. A large number of interested
people came out however to get the support
they needed to finish their histories. Many
brought samples of their early family
photographs which will certainly make the
book very unique and interesting. Those
compiling their information were to have in-
formed Allison Lobb by April 1. The finished
copies should be handed in to her in the next
couple of weeks or sent to her at RR2 Clin-
ton. When they are all submitted final copies
can then be prepared for each family to pro-
ofread. At that time the size of the book can
be assessed at a price decided upon. For
that reason orders for the book cannot be
taken until all this work has been com-
pleted.
4-H club to enter Bayfield fair
HOLMESVILLE - On March 27,
Holmesville II's Sensational Seamstresses
met for Meeting V. We opened the meeting
with the 4-H pledge.
The minutes from the last meeting were
read and there we discussed club business.
Our leader mentioned that the Bayfield Fair
would be glad to have any of the garments
we sew entered in the Fair. Our leader hand-
ed out pale yellow Duotarigs. We will use
them to hold our books and papers. The
treasurer's report was $13.63.
For roll call we had to tell which finishing
stitch we will use to sew our ga'rmets with.
One member was absent. We read over the
section in our books which told how to sew
the ribbing onto clothes. After, we worked
oh our ribbing samples. The next meeting is
on April 3 at 7 p.m. -By Diane Bradshaw.
