Arthur Circle group hears
talk on Friendship House
St. Patricks decorations and fresh
flowers, gave a warmth to the parlour for
the Arthur Circle Auxiliary meeting held
Mar. 18,
Winnie Walters' group was in charge and
Winnie opened the meeting with a poem "On
The Threshold Of Spring", followed by a
prayer. Betty Coulter led the group in a sing-
song using the new book, Celebrate.
The scripture was read by Suzanne
German and Betty Helesic from Psalm 116
and 119. A prayer "The Promise of Spring"
was read by Winnie and Marlene Starkey

was talked about in length by Judy' Cieslar
and Gerry Hilgendorff; and June Taylor
presented the need and showed a film Deck
The Halls. A question period followed.
Sandi Davidson, president, conducted the
business session and Betty Helesic read the
roll call and the secretary's and treasurer's
report was read by Hazel McCreath and --
approved. Hazel then showed a display of
plates and mugs commemorating Knox
Church's 150th anniversary which are now
on sale.
The . Easter meeting next month will be
conducted by the executive. Ted Green will
be our guest speaker, guitarist and singer.

The group, which has previously played to
capacity Playhouse audiences, has just.

Diamond Jubilee tulips
will mark6Oth anniversary
The Diamond Jubilee of The Royal Cana-
dian Legion, isbeing observed across
Canada from May 8, 1985 to June 1986. The
theme of our Diamond Jubilee is "PRIDE
IN OUR PAST - FAITH IN OUR FUTURE".
This year 1985, marks the 60th Anniver-
sary of The Royal Canadian Legion, which
was founded in 1925 at the Unity Conference
held in the city of Winnipeg. Here, 61
delegates from a number of Canadian
veterans groups, agreed to accept Union
and formed the Canadian Legion. The Domi-
nion Charter was granted on July 17, 1926
and Provincial Commands were also
chartered during that year. By the end of
1926 the Legion had a membership of 20,000
in 800 branches across Canada..
Today our membership is fast ap-
proaching 600,000 including 150,000

her Majesty the Queen on December 19,
1960, when we became officially The Royal
Canadian Legion.
A number of special projects have been
planned by Dominion Command to
celebrate the Diamond Jubilee in 1985 and
1986. One of. these projects is the selling of
Tulip bulbs. The purpose of selling these
tulip bulbs is to help • beautify.... the- com-
munities and nation, to promote the image
of the Legion, to establish liaison between
branch and community; and to maintain our
bonds with The Netherlands and to remind
us of the sacrifices made. The cost of the
