_connected with.,.` Winghan at d District
Hospital, spoke on. dector-patient relations
at the Huron County unit* the .Canadian'
Cancer' Society' meeting, in Clinton • on
Tuesday,141ar.19.
According to Dr. Wong, the recent ad
vancement in communications and the fast
dissemination of information is undermin-
ing the doctor's position because medical
knowledge is more accessible to the patient
and the public. -. .
"The doctor is placed in a position; where
his abilities are questioned by people who
learn their medicine from Reader's
Digest," Dr. Wong says.
He says the Widespread information has
led to a great deal of "mistrust and
Misunderstanding" of the medical profes-
sion by the community. When the patient
begins to dictate to the doctor, the doctor is
under more pressure to make the right deci-
sioris about a -patient which ultimately
makes him more likely to make a mistake.
Dr. Walter Wong was the guest speaker of
the Huron County unit of the Canadian
Cancer society meeting in Clinton on March
19. Dr. Wong, a genera practitioner in the
Wingham area, gave a speech on doctor -
patient relations.

HURONVIEW - March 18 was spent with
an hour of old time music, presented by
Marie Flynn and the Huron Strings. Their
program consisted of old and new numbers
including some Irish melodies, in recogni-
tion ofSt. Patrick's Day. Ken Cowan played
some times on his mouth organ.
In the absence of Rev'. Simmons; guest
minister was Rev. Aubrey Bell of Trinity
Anglican Church, Bayfield, who conducted
. the Comrnunitlp service in the chapel on
:March 19. Stu 'Taylor assisted Mr. Bell.
Frank Bissett presided at the organ.
The ladies from Special Care ander the
guidance of Pat Fields, tried their luck at
baking cookies. The ladies for the most part
hadn't forgotten the knack and the samples
were quite tasty.
On March 20 Huronview had an inspiring
and spiritful visit with the Salvation Army
Cadets from Toronto. These cadets are at-
tending a training college, and on, comple-
tion of their course, they will be given
postings across the country. While in
Goderich, the cadets were guests of
Lieutenants Wendy Johnstone and Pani

cornet solo by Cadet Carr, a vocal duet by
,Cadets Carmichael and Frayn, scripture

who also led in the singing of the hymns.

dian version of the Indian Psalm was taken
from Psalm 23, and read by Ethel Hill.
