thirty seconds later, Goderich came back
to tie. the game, at three. Tom Bean
scored, from Jim Beattie, on another
powerplay and then Rod Nurse blasted one
by the goaltender, assisted by Gary Erb.
Goderich received a penalty and
Listowel capitalized -On it, to go ahead,at
7:53.
However, Goderich would not give up
and tied it up again,. at 11:41. This goal
came from Topa Bean, his second o£ the
night, from Mark Cauchi and Scott Gar -
row.
With, five minutes left in the game,
I..istowel scored what, proved to be the
game winner.
Goderich kept up the pressure for the
rest of the game adj,1 added some excite -
meat when it had a 2 -on -1 break in the last
minute of play, but missed.
After a tough season, the ,team will be
looking forward to next year, as the ma-
jority of their first year players will be a
little bigger and ready to go.

It was a big night for' Gerry Ross, who
overcame Robert Nan in .two straight
games to clinch the Level 3 championship.
Both played particularly well, blit Gerry's
systematic strategy paid off and it was dif-
ficult
ifficult for Rob to elude the persistent
checks. Congratulations, Gerry! Better
luck next time, Rob; it was good to see you
in the finals, anyway .
Level,) play saw the departure.. of Walter.
Gottschalk, as Mark Maurer came up w:th
his second victory to take the best -of -three
wins. Mark will compete in the finals
against the winner of the Bob,Dick versus
Ben Stadef mann seam -finals
As predicted,Moug Brindley tied up the
Level 2 competition with Brian Phillips.
Dave Brown as Level 4's elimination as he
fell victim in two consecutive, games to
Barry Page. Daveput up a real good show
and at one time had a very strong queen,
knight and bishop combination. However,
"Lady Luck" wasn't with him that night.

Local Atom team wins
Houseleague tournament
The Goderich Atom entry in the Huron -
Perth Houseleaguecapped a successful
season with a championship win in the
league playoff tournament, at Blyth on the
weekend.
The team finished first in the league with
an impressive record of 15 wins, two ties
and one loss. They won the tournament
with victories over Mitchell and Clinton,
getting a bye in the second round.
In their first tournament game, on
March 23, Goderich blasted Mitchell 9-0,
with netminder Jamie Redmond posting
the shutout.
The game was close throughout the first
period, with Goderich getting the first
marker, scored by Andrew Scott, from
David Bogie, with only 1:34_ left in the
frame. Goderich exploded after that, scor-
ing three goals in the second period and
five in the third.
Scott had a hat -trick in the game and ad-
ded one assist. Scott Mathieson, James
McDade and Bryan Lamb all scored one
goal and one assist, while Jeff Rau, Trevor
Bazinet and David Boyce netted one goal
each. David Bogie pitched- in with two
assists and Jeff Kent, Drew MacAuley,
David Edwards and 'Scott Creamer each
drew one assist.'
Goderich's final tourney game with Clin-
ton, March 24, was much closer, as the
local team only managed to squeak out a 2-
1 win.
Clinton scored the first goal, midway
through the second period and held the
narrow 1-0 lead until the 4:51 mark of the
third period, when David -Edwards scored,
assisted by Bryan Lamb and James
McDade.
.The deadlock remained unbroken until
Drew MacAuley hit the twine for the win-
ner, assisted by Jeff Phelan, .with only 34.
seconds left in the game.
GODERICH HOUSELEAGUE
In local Atom Houseleague action, the
Flyers took the final series two -games -
straight, beating the Blue Hawks 10-2 in
their first meeting and 3-2 in the second.
Trevor Bazinet led the way for the
Flyers in the first match -up, netting four
goals for his team. David Boyce hit the
twine twice, adding an assist and Steve
Hogan also scored two goals. Andrew Scott
and Drew MacAuley were the Blue Hawks'
marksmen.
The scoring was well spread -out. in ,the
second game, with Ryan Farrish,. Scat
Creamer and Trevor Bazinet scoring for
the Flyers, while David Edwards and An-
drew Scott replied for the Hawks.

shall be at the discretion of the Town, however, owner preference
will be accommodated when possible.
