will celebrate 75th anniversary
As a very' special way to celebrate the 75th
Anniversary of Guiding in Canada
Mapleway Area is planning the biggest bir-
thday party imaginable to be held at the Kit-
chener Auditorium on June 1, 1985. We hope
to have close to 6,000 people sharing in the
fun and excitement of this show.
The Waterloo Regional Police Band will
play and all guiding units and, helpers will
take part in the march past.
There will be a scene depicting the
historic visits of Lord and Lady Baden-
Powell; Guides in old fashioned, unifornis
doing a precision drill; little Brownies being
bumblebees and lots of clowns. The scene 4
camp from days gone by will stir many
memories while one of camping on Mars
will start you thinking of the future, Our fun
wouldn't be complete without a story about
selling cookies and, of course, dancing and
singing.
Don't , miss this extra -special, once-in-a-
lifetime party! All parents, relatives and
friends are welcome, but you must have a
ticket to save your seat. Anyone wanting to
attend this ceremony can get ticket infor-
mation from any of the unit leaders. Tickets
will be on sale for March 1st. Tickets are on-,
ly $3.50 for this memorable event.

children. through Foster Plan
' Ontario Junior Farmers are supporting
International Youth Year by sponsoring
children through the Foster Parent Plan.
The drive to sponsor a child is a provincial
campaign which will be highlighted during
Junior Farmer Week, March 16-23. A wrap-
up of the program will be given at the Junior
Farmer Conference at the Constellation
Hotel in Toronto from March 22-24. Don Mid-
dleton, a former Junior Farmer Provincial
President and a board Member for the
Foster Parents Plan will address the con-
ference delegates.
To date, Junior Farmer clubs throughout
the province have sponsored more than 40'
children. Each sponsoring club provides
$276 per year. This sum supplies needs for
-the child and his and her community. The
sponsoring group receives regular reports
about its child and how it is being aided.
There will be several other activities
throughout the province during Junior
Farmer Week. For example, some clubs
will be having family -fun nights, others are
canvassing for charities or organizing com-
munity dances: ,
Junior Farmer Week is a special time to
increase community awareness of the
'Junior Farmer program. It is an excellent
opportunity for Junior Farmers to further
promote their motto of "Self Help and Com-
munity Betterment."
