`St
St. Mike's teams to fold next season
BY Karen Jensen
For the last four years
number 15, Richard Martin of
St. Michael's hockey team
has played the game and
dedicates most of his time to
it. , •
St. Michael's is a catholic
public school in the vacinity
of Toronto. Atlthough it is a
school team, not one of the
players are from within the
school.
This year is Richard's first
year as a Pee Wee in the
Metro Toronto Hockey
Michael's. Next year he
plans on transferring to
either the Red Wings of the
Nats.
Why is he transferring? St.
Michael's is planning to
change back to school hockey
competition, so that the boys ,
of St. Michal's can play.
Because there , are no
sponsors for the team, team
members pay a fee of $275 to
$350, but the sehool does'
supply them with their
equipment.
Richard, a 12 -year-old who
also likes soccer, had an
average of one goal every
other game with lots of
assists. This year he has
scored approximately 22
oals-from-about-45-game
St. Michael's was recently
in Sarnia playing in another
tournament. Richard said it
wasn't like a normal
tournament where they go by
the score board to see who
will win. There, the team •
would receive two points
every period if they were
ahead.
St. Michael's is a tough
team and are expected to win.
They have no strict disipline,
diet or training. They just
continuously practice.
The team will now o to a
Belwood tournament since
they won the double a
championship March 15.
Hockey school draw winners
Every year the Lions Club
sponsers two players, who
have played in YCW, to a
week of their choice in the
Lucan Hockey School. The Warren Scherbarth said, `It

School, but is all set for the
