After preparing for less than 100 children, organizers had to rush around at the last minute to provide enough popcorn for everyone. • "People told us that if we got 35-50 kids out we would be lucky. As.it turned out, we only prepared for 100. We had to rush around town buying up all the popcorn we could find. Despite our efforts, seven children had to do without popcorn," said Myrtle firl*Si; chairman of the subcommittee for ea party. Both boys and girls dressed their dolls up in their finest attire and some even con- fiscated their old baby buggies for the special occasion. The kids were entertained with cartoons and sing songs. • Cupcakes and drinks were also served and. several door prizes were handed out. Many! of the treats were donated by the auxiliary and members of the public. ThrTrizes included a cabbage patch cake made by Linda Macdonald, a nightie and slipper set given by Evelyn Carroll and Marg McMillan made slippers and donated them as a door prize. Marg Lightfoot donated a cabbage patch kid purse and Sharon Scruton and Karen Draper donated six bundles of diapers. All of the other prizes •branch 109. According to Mrs. McNair the kids were well behaved. "When you get 210 children in a room it can be chaos, but on this day the children were well behaved," she said. "I think it's good for the kids that they have to be responsible. The amazing thing is they do look after them (the dolls). One little girt was walking around and all of a sudden she screamed, forgot my baby" and she went and retrieved her doll. The cabbage patch doll gives kids more responsibility than any other doll -I have seen," she said. Mrs. McNair, Karen Draper, Sharon Scruton and 'Theresa Moller, organizers of the tea', were very pleased with the turnout. Cabbage Patch mothers and fathers be forewarned that another cabbage patch tea or some other doll -oriented activity is in the ting ready for their Tulip Tea.
