Fishermen appeal decision to Supreme Court
The Independant, Lake. Huron Zone
Fisherman's Association- has appealed to
the Supreme Court of Ontario, in an at-
tempt to overturn , a lower court. ruling
upholding provincial government -imposed
catch quotas. -
• The quotas were imposed one year ago,
.to prevent overfishing of the Great Lakes
by commercial fishing operations, by the
Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources.
The fishermen object to the quotas,
because they claim they prevent them (the
fisherman) froth catching enough fish to
support their operations;
An initial lower court decision tipheid.ft

launched by the ministry, rev., thy:
decision. The fisherman's association is:
hoping the Supreme Court will settle` the'
matter once and for all, in their favor; '
