No wounds for salt
company brings award
The Canadian Salt Company Limited
received a plaque from the Industrial Acci-
dent Prevention Association last Thursday.
The warehouse on Huron Road is situated
on top of one of the first salt mines found in
the- area. It is a drop-off point; customers
come and truck the salt away m five to ten
ton loads and take it to its final destination.
Blaine Northey, District Manager for the
Industrial Accident Prevention Association,
was on hand to make the presentation.
He said that of the 58,000 firms in Ontario,
the Goderich salt warehouse was one of
three firms to have achieved 8.5 years
without a compensable injury.
"It is only through a commitment by
management on a hour to hour, week to
week basis that such a standard of safety
can be achieved and maintained," Mr. Nor-
they said.
"Everyone here who practises accident,
prevention in the -work place, probably car-
ries this attitude of safety home with them
and as a result have fewer accidents or in-
juries at home," he said.

HOLMESVILLE - On Feb. 27 Holmesville
II's 4-H Club Sensational Seamstresses met
at Bev Van Ninhuys for the second meeting
of this unit. Six members were present.
We opened the meeting with our 4-H
pledge. The we took body measurements so
we would be sure of our sizes when we
bought our patterns. After that we read over
the part in our book which told us how to
choose our patterns and fabric. This will
help \ us when we buy the patterns and
fabrics that we need for meeting three.,
We Closed the meeting witlrthe motto,
"Learn to Do by Doing." Home assignments
for meeting three are to wash and dry fabric
and to cut out the patterns. We should bring
both of these items to the next meeting
which is on March 6 at Bev Van Ninhuy's.
