Lawrence informed West Wawanosh Township council that the nearest information meeting will be held in Wingham on March 14, 1985. Other issues included, Council giving sup- port to The Homestead Group Home. The home will have an independent living skills program and three boys that lived in the John Hindmarsh log house on Concession one will be enrolled in this program. Ray Hanna came before council with a re- quest for get, funding for a trophy for the 4-11 Conservation Club. Hanna hopes that with the trophy the area ' young people will become more interested in conservation. Council authorized Harold Errington to ap- jSroach the authority for funding for a trophy. The road superintendent came before council to discuss the reconstruction of the boundary which Colborne township is pro- posing to begin in 1985. Road accounts in the amount of $13,922.03 were ordered paid. A Payment of general accounts was ordered totalling $9,412. Council also ordered the clerk advertise for a person to count dogs and sell dog tags in the township. Councillor Raynard reported that the wor- ding for the deed for the Lucknow Health Centre is not yet finalized. Council has not recieved a copy and in turn did not authorize the signing of the cost sharing agreement. Council also recieved a letter from Cyn- thia Fisher, Huron County planner regar- ding_tl_ie Secondary Plan which was review-. ed by Council. The township agreed t hire-, a summer student to work on the Secondary plan, through the County of Huron. The student's salary will be partially paid through the involvement in the Municipal. Administration Program. Peak demand for hydro reached in. cold RECORD POWER DEMAND Slightly below normal temperatures in central and southern Ontario pushed up January power demaniLs. On Monday, January 21 a new peak elec- tricity demand was reached for the third time in as many weeks -19,390,000 kilowatts. That record surpassed thoseset on January 8 and 15, of 19,131,000 kW and 19,168,000 kW. Meeting the largest electricity loads in the province's history - 400,000 to 1,000,000 kilowatts heavier than those of most winter days - strained the Hydro system to the limit. While interruptible industrial customers did not have their electricity cut during January, they were put on "cut alert", or warned cuts could occur, twice during the month. January's peak demand rd a 2.6 per cent over January 1984: -The -first Tnoi:th of 1985 also saw' energy consumption increase by 2.5 per cent over the 1984 figure, to 11.44 billion kilowatt-hours. 1 1ectnc1 y e p 1 t "Tr United States were sharply curtailed last month. Twenty-two per cent less electricity ospita . y is was sold, because the power was needed to halt Ontario's energy demands. ftevenues-, M - SALLOWS The family of the fate Donald Sallows would Pike to express our sincere thanks to friends and neighbours for their cards of sympathy, floral • tributes, charitable donations -and- other expres- sions of sympathy, also Rev. I would also like to thank the neighbours for their visits. Josephine Kurylowicz.-10 however, declined only 8.2 per cent, so On- tario Hydro customers earned almost $15 million for January sales of 1,163 million kilowatt-hours of electricity to the United States. 1984 ENERGY DEMAND AND EXPOR-TS Year-end figures indicate 1984 energy de,- mand across the province was up 5.9 per cent from the previous year. The increase can be attributed to the recovering economy. While the amount of electricity Ontario Hydro exported to the United States declin- ed in 1984, the dollar value of those sales in- creased. Ontario . Hydro exported 10.6 billion kilowatt-hours of electrjcity last year, down from 11.9 billion kilowatt-hours in 1983. But last year's electricity sales earned Hydro customers $164.4 million - up almost $5 million from 1983. POLE SALE '- Ontario _Ontario Hydro has reached a $20 million agreement with Bell Canada to sell the telecommunications firm more than 100,000 distribution poles. The sale is part of a new cost-sharing policy supported by the two utilities which will eventually see Mrs ovmership of jointly -used poles grow to 40 per cent. Befre the cost-sharing strate-gy was adopted. 13e11 owned 17 per cent of the polus, with Hydro owning the remaining 83 per cent.
