Local bowlers named to Sun Boveteam
T ZONE FINALS
On 5liday, February 17, the Zone Finals
of the OV Sun Bowl were completed at Lit-
tle Bowl. This year the bowlers trona the
Little Bowl 5 Pin Bowlers Association put
out a great effort and came up with a
regular team member, 2 alternates, and a
coach. These people will be going . on to
Molesworth in April to , coiihpete in the
regional finals.,.
Nick Littlechild came through with a 126
pin over average score to make the team.
Barb Pigg, who made the team last year,
rolled 95 pins over average to become the
ladies alternate and Rick Anderson came
through with a 103 pin over average perfor-
mance to become the men's alternate. Del
Mitchelmare will be going -as coach.
MONDAY NIGHT MEN
Bob Atkinson and Ken Johnston rolled a
back-to-back 850 and 821 for the night to
give Murphy's Landing a clear lead in the
overall standings. With scores in this
range 'they had no trouble defeating the
Tail Ends by the score of 27 - 3. The rest of
the league, however, are bunched up with
only 261/2 points separating the next five
spots.
Dennis Schmidt was top bowler for the
Tail' Ends with a 679.
Selinger-Wood managed to hang on to se-
cond spot but went down to defeat by the
score of 24 - 6 at the hands of the A Team.
Bill Hayward rolled a 661. Carson Milley,
had the high score for Selingers with a 623.
The Poverty Pak, behind a 727 from Jim
Carrick, took 19 points to slow down the
late season surge by John's Jokers. Alvin
Daer was the bright spot for the Jokers,
rolling 40 -pins -over -average.
French Cleaners trounced Little Bowl 24
- 6 as Al Smith came through with a big 796
performance. High man for Little Bowl
was Sonny Moore with a 740.
MONDAY NIGHT LADIES
Auleen's Angels are still in top spot as
they took seven points from the Blazers.
The Angels were led by Karen Mero.195,
Joan Burleigh 203, Grace Mugford 213 and
Auleen Theriault 678 triple. Leading the
Blazers was Lorraine Jones 213 and Joyce
Hamilton, 577 -triple.
The No -Names took five points from
Trouble. High rollers for the No -Names,
were Donna Duncan 211, Pauline Jacques
206, Jean Mundle 223 and Del Geddes 351,
751 triple. TrouL;e gained two points and
the high rollers were Liz Kruspe 227 and
Audrey Dineen 281, 658 triple.
Shirt's Girls took five points and were
led by Mary Lynne Telford -226, Bev
Whetstone 238, Shirley Kennedy 254 and
Dorothy Bourdeau 257; 699 triple. The
Oldtimers took two points and were led by
Nancy White 287, 615 triple, Bev Million
252, 621 triple.
The Marionettes gained seven points as
they bowled over 80 percent of their
average. Good games were Tolled by Ett
Bradley 185, Kitty Smith 219 and Marilyn
Bannister 583 triple.
TUESDAY MIXED '
The League Championship is on the line
this -week as -the -top -four teams- are
four points of each other.
Holding down top spot are the Tricky
Six's following their 5 - 2 win over the ?'s.
Shirley Schmidt was the best for the Sixers
rolling a 683 triple. Don Henry rolled a 657
triple for the ?'s.
The Dirty Half Dozen moved into second
place following their 7 - 0 win over the Pin
Pickers. Manfred Poliernitsch, Joanne
Ducharme and •Lynn Million all had 600 -
plus nights for the Dirty half. H'arveY
'Culbert was tops for the Pickers rolling a
668 triple.
Holding down third place is the Bowled
Eagles as they could only manage three
points from Barb's Gang. Torts Allen rolled
a 602 triple for the Eagles. Sonny Moore
had a 732 triple for the Gang.
The Frame Ups came out on the short
end of a 7 - 0 thrashing by the Unknowns.
Vi de Haas rolled a 688 triple. Hugh
McGregor was the best for the Frame Ups
rolling a 595. triple.
The Unpredictables shut out the
G °M. C.'s 7 - 0 on the strength of Janet
Daers 588 triple. Jack Gilbert rolled a 625
triple for the G.M.C.'s.
The Tailenders took a 5 - 2 win from
Bell's Angels. Marian Millar rolled a 551
triple. Walter Bell had a 643 triple for the
Angels.
TUESDAY COFFEE BREAK
Early Tues. mornings six small teams of
ladies trudge off to the bowling alley in.
storm, sleet or snow. After one cup of
Steve's coffee these ladies turn into the
meanest bunch of bowlers around.
Betsy Rivera -must have had two cups of
coffee because she rolleda super 335 -single
for the We Team, enabling them to gain
five points. Anita Bartliff had a 201. For
the Unpredictables Barb Howe and Marg
Swan came up with a 231, 226. Cathy Mac-
Donald had a 175 single for her second
Tues. out. Joyce Baer bowled a 285 for a
611 triple.
For Just Us, Bonnie Hogan bowled a 206
game. Pin Busters won four" points to put
them in first place. Debbie Clarance bwl-
ed 691, Judy Woodall had a 206, 519 triple
and Susan Wagler had a 187.
Marg Stoddart had a 172 and Elsa
Fickert 180 for a 450 triple. Sharon Mitchell
has steadily been improving her average
always helping this team to take pts.
Broad Squad, with only two players this
week was able to steal one point. Shirley
Lamb bowled a 204 and 509 triple.
These ladies would welcome any
newcomers.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT MIXED
Steve Allen took top honours -for the A &
P team with a 342 single and a 829 triple.
Hotel Bedford continues to move closer
to the top after downing the Lane Busters 5
- 2. This places the Bedford in a tie for third
place. -
The Ghost Busters whipped Ernies 7 - 3.
Vi De Haas was tops for the Ghost Busters
with a 212 single, while- Ron McCartney
bowled 647 triple for the Left Overs.
The Go -Getters bumped the Country
Kids 5 - 2. Rob Koestler bowled a 243 single
for the Go Getters.
WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON LADIES
Bluebelles retained their lead by
defeating Roses 7 - 0. Shirley Hulley rolled
240 and Jean Phillips 566 for Bluebelles;
while Vi De Haas led Roses with 552.
Tulips kept pace by also taking seven
points from Carnations who had 234 from
--Cathy-Huisser.-JaneLRumig. had 277 and
Brenda Good had 132 pins -over -average.
Buttercups with 212 and 558 from Grace
Mugford took five points from Sweet Peas,
with 232 from Karen Pounder.
Forget-Me-Nots and Snapdragons split
points 4 - 3. Olive Gilbert had 226, while
Sheila Brownlee rolled 222, 216 and Rory
Hurlock 213.
Marys Golds swept Daffy Dillies for
seven points. Yvonne Dougherty rolled 232
and 569 while Daisy Scott was big)] with
558.
Audre ' Brindley rolled high single and
triple Of 286 and 769 to lead Doreen's
Daisies to a seven ,point sweep of Tiger
"Lillies" whose high lady wag Nancy
Maillet with 212 and 505. M=
THURSDAY MIXED
Neil Maxwell with a 598 triple led the
Copycats to a 5 - 2 decision over the Night
Owls. Vi De Haas ws the high bowler for
the Night Owls with a 640 triple.
The "A" Team also bowled their way to
a 5 - 2 split over the Semis? Earl Lawrence
was the top bowler for the "A" Team with
a 256 single and 536 triple. Rpn and Shelly
Kirkconnell were the high bowlers for the
Semis? with triples of '544 and 444, respec-
tively.
The Dizastors moved back ; ihto first
place by virtue of a 7 - 0 win over the Four
Seasons. Gerry Good was the -bid gun for
the Dizastors bowling a 695 triple. Joe Bez-
zo also helped in the win,,bowling 15 pins -
over -average. Jimmy Taman,bowled a 173
single and 413 triple for the Four:easons.
THURSDAY NIGHT.LADIFS
Carrie Middel bowled a 616 triple to help
overtake Team Canada 5 - 20Honourable.
mention should go to Grace' dung and
Shirley Middel who also: boweled well.
Laurie Little was high bowler for Team
Canada with a 561 triple:,
Marj Smith of the Yo Yo's' set'* he lanes
onfire with three terrific gargles 0301, 200,
206 for a 707 triple. What Note`s%itook two
points, with Linda Rodger's 602 triple.
Wallbangers also had' a good night tak-
ing five points off the Alleycats. Helen
Lewis was high bowler with a 569 triple but
Trish Deighton had three gpod games to
give her a 502 triple. Pat 13rown of the
Alleycats was high bowler with a 492 tri-
ple.
Nighthawks and Trouble Makers were
better matched. Nighthawks took four
points with Rory Hurlock's triple of 522,
Barb Pigg being high bowler for the Trou-

Hot Spots took four from The Spoilers,
Bob Johnston with a 254 and Sharon

4 - 3 split for the Six Pointers. Nancy Willis,
