Grade 1 classes went to the LticknOw Post
office and Fire Hall, At the Post office they
Watched the mail being sOrted, saw the safe

wore a firemen's hat.
Mr. Sygrove's class has been making
poetry books and seashell books.
Mrs. Tebbutt's Grade 4 class is now work-
ing on a unit about Magnets.
The Brookside eirls played a hockey game
with Ripley with a score of 6-0. Teresa
Meriam played goal for the first time.
Joel Wright from Mrs. Allen's Grade 5,
placed first in the Legion Public Speaking
Competition at Lucknow on February 15. He
goes to the Zone Competition in Goderich on
March 2.
Skating was enjoyed for an hour on
Thursday afternoon by all Brookside school
children at Lucknow Arena. About 77 pupils
stayed at the school with four teachers.
During the Professional Development
Day on Friday, the teachers met with
Special Education Superintendent Paul Car-
roll and Area Resource teachers, Darlene
Ellison and Charlotte Fanjoy to discuss
school needs and how area resource
teachers can best help school personnel. In
the afternoon Debbie Heslinga, Enrichment
Consultant, made a very interesting presen-
tation of ways and means to motivate
students and get them to acquire and use
reading and research skins. Several parent
interviews were also held during the day.

Terry Smith of R.R. 1, Walton, is the new
president of the Huron County 4-H leaders'
association.
He was elected at the association's annual
meeting in Holmesville of Feb. 12 and takes
over from Les Falconerof R.R. 5, 'Clinton.
Other executive members include first
vice-president Dianne Oldfield of R.R. 4,
Seaforth, second vice-president Lila Rintoul
of R.R. 2, Lucknow and secretary -treasurer
Mary DeBoer of Exeter.

the commodity groups, but this year six
