He Was married to the hate Viola May Gibson on. Nov. 2, 1927 in Goderich. He was a barber in Dungannon and Strat- ford for 50 years and belonged to the.Vic- toria Street United Church, Goderich. DONALD ROY SILLOWS Donald Roy Sallows, 51, of RR4 Goderich, died Friday, Feb. 22, 19l5 at Alexandra Marine and General Hospital. The son of the former Ethel Elizabeth Brant, of Seaforth and the late Reuben Sallows, he was born Feb. 9, 1934 in Goderich. He was a painter and decorator. Surviving are three, sons, Stephen and Terry, of Toronto and Rick, of Wingham, two daughters, Roseanne, Mrs. Gerald Skins and Lisa, of Wingham, six brothers, William, of Alberta, James, of Florida, Ed- ward, of Goderich, Gordon, of Seaforth, Kenneth, of Amhertsberg and Frank, of Stratford, five sisters, Mary, of Toronto, Lillian, of Seaforth, Florence, of London, Irene, of Goderich and Joan of Exeter. He was predeceased by one brother, Robert. Funeral services' and committal were held on Monday, Feb. 25 at Stiles Funeral Home with Rev:, Robert J. Crocker, of St. George's Anglican Church and ,,Major Donald :4, popple. of 0 of- ficiating. MARTHA -MAY COOK Martha -May Cook, ori t. Isaac St. Clin- ton, died at. the Clinton Public Hospital on Feb. 6 at the age of 47. Mrs, Cook, a bookkeeper at Gord`Rapson Paving for eight years, , was born, ,on December 25, 1937 in Toronto. She is the only daughter of Thomas Savage, of Goderich, and the ' late Emily ay (Wilkinson) Savage. She is survived by her,.husband, David Hugh Cook and their children, Annette and Thomas, both at,home. Funeral and committal services were held on February 9 at Ball and Falconer Funeral Horne, Clinton, with Rev. James Bechtel of Wesley -Willis United Church of- ficiating. Interment was held at the Clinton Cemetery. ADOLPH RODY Adolph Rody, of Walkerton died at Kitchener -Waterloo Hospital, Thursday, February 14, in his 78th year. ' Surviving besides his wife, the former Dorothy Ward, are one son, Michael, of Goderich; one daughter, Shirley, of Waterloo; two brothers, John, RR 1, Elmwood and Holman, RR 3, Paisley; one sister, Mrs. Herb (Phylis) Howie, of Chesley and four grandchildren, Janice, Steven, Brian aid Richard Rody, of Goderich. He was predeceased by his parents and one brother, Bill Rody. Interment at Walkerton Cemetery. WMS recognizes World Day of Prayer Knox Women's -Missionary Societwmet in the church Tuesday, Feb. 19. In spite of the inclement weather there was good atten dance. Mrs. Gordon Henderson past presi- dent, opened the meeting with the hymn "What a Friend we have in Jesus". The minutes were read and adopted by Mrs. Sanderson. Mrs. O. Falkiner corresponding secretary gave her report and Mrs. T. White gave the treasurer's report. It was announced the World Day of Prayer would be held March 1 in St. Peter's Church with Sister Patricia McLean, Lon- don as speaker. Her theme "Peace with Prayer". The 1985 Synodical will be held in London. The hymn composed by Mr. J. Coulter was sung. Dorothy Reed gave a reading entitled "The Origin of St. Valentine". Mrs. Sander- son read the" hymn "Peace Perfect Peace". Mrs. Ida White with the use of slides and pic- tures from the Presbyterian Record gave a very interesting talk on World Peace. Following the scripture reading taken from 14th Chapter of St. John and 12th Chapter of Romans, Mrs,'Horton closed the meeting with prayer. Annual Mariners service held at Church The annual Mariners service was held in Knox church on Sunday. Feb, 24. Over 200 people attended as the -sailors and seanian alike were honored and blessed for the following shipping season. The church was decked out with ships' apparatus and fishing nets and flags were hanging from the ceiling. The shipping apparatus borrowed for the service ineliided the whistle and a chancel given by Stan Merriam,a chadburn that was at the foot of the chancel steps given by Ralph Morris .and the .minature chancel on the piano given by Waverly Nelson. The mariners service has a long history behind it. It came into being in the spring of 1903 when James Anderson, the minister at Knox Presbyterian Church, convened a Sailors' and Fishermens' Service. After the great storm of Nov. 9, 1913, and in the spring of 1914, George Ross, another minister at the church, reorganized the service into the Mariner's Service and it has been held ever. sine. This service also marked the 31st appearance of The Harbouraires male choir at the service. The mens' group was directed by Lorne Dotterer. The sermon was delivered by the Rev. G.L. Donnybrook UCW donates to fund for Paulette Martin The February meeting of Donnybrook U.C.W. was held on Wednesday Feb. 13, at the home of Margaret Hildebrand. Dessert was served at the beginning by Alice Jefferson and Ruth Hardy. Donna Bieman and Wanda Jefferson were in charge of worship with the theme being Love. The annual • meeting of Donnybrook United Church was held recently in the church. Gary Shuttleworth chaired the meeting and opened the meeting with prayer. Lois Chamney acted as secretary and read the minutes of the last meeting.
