of St. Valentine's Day was greeted ritb b1'-

had to pay five cents for her rock if it curled
through the house and 10 cents for each rock
that failed to reach the hog line! As a sur-
prise, the seconds on each team had to
"skip" their first game, while each regular
skip was "demoted" to second! Two six -end
games were played.
Team Three curled extremely well as Kay
King skipped her team to a first place win.
Emily Crew (vice), Lesley Zolab (second
and skip) and Joanne Ducharme (lead)
played superbly. Each won a potted plant
and Valentine heart mug. Kay King ac-
cepted the win both graciously and '"lo •

quaciously"'
Close on the heel of Team Three was
Team Five, skipped with confidence by
Helen Dickie. Playing extremely well were
her teammates Gerry Zurbrigg (vice),
Shelagh Sully (second and skip) and Ruth
to win

Those who lost were treated to cups of

Steward (second) and Roberta Machan
(lead) will have their names inscribed on
name plates at the base of the silver bowl.
Second place ' winners were Ann I{uran
(skip), Karen Kirk (vice), Ruth Jermyn (se-
cond) and Donna Finnigan (lead). Third
place winners were Vicki Culbert (skip),
Nancy MacKinnon (vice), Vi Stringer (se-
cond) and Cathy Morris (lead). Congratula-
tions to all of you!
GDCI team nips Wingham 6-5 in
high school hockey experiment
A school hockey team representing
GDCI defeated a team from F.E. Madill of
Wingham, 6-5,, in an exhibition game
played in Lucknow last Thursday.
The game was "an interesting experi-
ment" according to GDCI coach Dick
Madge. He and Madill coach Larry Lane,
both of whom are instructors for Ontario
Minor. Hockey Association coaching clinic,
put together teams consisting of five -man
units from the three age groups
represented in the schools.
One unit was composed of . junior and
midget age players and the third was
made up of bantams. The five -man units
were matched against each other during
the game which was played as part of
`-`winter weekend" activities 'at both
schools.
The Vikings junior -juvenile unit con-
sisted of John Graham, Grant Garrow,
John Thompson, Midget Daryl Madge and
• Pete Willerns. Midget Todd Jeffrey, Dar-
ren Doak, Chris Sideris, Shawn Larder and
Matt WiLkinson ,and bantams Scott Gar -
row, Byron Bowman, Wayne Nivins, Dan
McDougall and, Bob Allin completed the
Goderich team. Jay Williamson was the
Goderich goalie.
Madill jumped off to a 3-0 first -period
lead but the Vikings came back with four
tallies to hold a 4-3 lead by the first minute
oft the third period. Wingham then scored
two more goals to lead 5-4 but the Vikings
tied it with six minutes left and got the win-
ner with two minutes remaining.
John Thompsontl had two goals for
Goderich, with singles going to Chris
Sideris, Scott Garrow, Shawn Larder and
John Graham. 'Daryl Madge and Todd Jef-
frey had two assists each while Darren
Doak,.Byron Bowman, Chris Sideris; John
Graham, Pete Willerna and Grant Garrow
each had one.
For Wingham, Corey McKee had two
goals. Dan Gilchrist, Blake Flett and Bill
Haines each scored one goal.
