There *ere 40 teams in six divisions, the GDCI team placed second in the ,800 -student -and -under class. Here they will compete with teams from schools all across Western Ontario.- competition. ntario.- Viking track athletes perform well The GDCI Viking Indoor Track and Field team competed in the Central Tech Indoor Classic held at the Metro Track and Field Center last. Friday at York University., Thirty-six Goderich athletes performed well in competitionagainst high-calibre competi- tion. Joe Melady placed second in the Open Boys Shot Put, with a personal best put of 16.60 metres. Melady led the competition un- til bested by one put over 17 metres. The Viking female sprinters showed ex- cellent form with a Goderich girl making it to each 60 metre final. Midget Erin Robin- son placed second, with a personal best time of 8.25 seconds. Junior Joanne Campbell placed third, in a personal best time of .8:07 Murphy's victimizes A Team MONDAY NIGHT MEN The A Team became the latest victim of the League -leading Murphy's Landing team as they went down to defeat 23-7. Tony Bedard was the star for Murphy's, rolling a three -game total of 765: Little Bowl regained third spot as they downed the Poverty Pak 23-7. Gerry Ross rolled an 814 triple to lead the team. Hayden Thomas had a good night for the Pak, rolling 593 triple. The Tail Ends were hot as well' as they took 21 points from John's Jokers. Dennis Schmidt was top bowler for the Tail Ends with a 712. John Miller threw a 767 for the Jokers. , • Selinger-Wood and French Cleaners had - the closest match of the night with Selinger corning out on top by the score of 16-14. Don McDougall was the high man for Selinger fifth" a 6941.. �- MONDAY IGH' LADWS Auleen's, Angels are still the league leaders as they took seven points from the No -Names. High rollers for the Angels were Joan Burleigh 199, Brenda Dineen 203, Auleen Theriault 247, 244, 646 triple. The Marionettes took five points as they came up against the Oldtimers who manag- ed to take two points. High games for the Marionettes were rolled by Ett Bradley 212, add Kitty Smith 225. Leading her team once again was Ila Williams with a 606 triple. Trouble made a big move in the league standings as they took seven points from _Shirts .._Girls....71?rouble's high. roller.... Audrey Brindley 208, 244, 624 triple. The star of the evening was Liz Kruspe with her 312, 635 triple. Shirl's Girls were led by Dorothy Bourdeau 217, Joyce Pettus 247 and Mary Lynne Telford 547 triple. Lit- tle Gems bowler Del Mitchelmore had 259 for 700 and Muriel Morgan 226. For the Spoilers it was Donna Hayden 242 for 577 and Jim Ritchie 203. No Names took five from Noddy. THURSDAY MIXED The "A" Team led by Debby Good's 204 single—andWayne-Bem's'-202- single defeated the league leading Dizastors by a 5- 2 score. High bowlers for the Dizastors were Gerry Good with a 254 single and Joan Eisenbach with a 224 single. The Copycats took a clean sweep from the Four Seasons. High bowlers for the Copycats were Darlene Maxwell with a 512 triple and Neil Maxwell's 220 single. Jimmy Taman bowled a 416 triple for the Four _ Se,tlsa .,._-_ _s _._.._ ___. In the 60 metre hurdle events the Vikings also made a fine showing. Tammy Talbot placed second (10.47) and Maureen Stapleton placed fourth (11.48) in the Midget Girls timed final. Katharine Murphy placed fourth in the Junior Girls section (10.87). Shawn Rahbek placed fourth (8.78) and. Doug Lounsbury, fifth (8.82) in the Senior Eoys final. Christine Phillips ran a finerace to place fourth in the Midget 3000 metre run, with a personal best time of 11:52.7. The Midget Boys Medley relayteam (800m, 200m,.20Om, 400m) et Andy rr, Rob D.unne, Darryl Balaski and Bob Alien placed fifth in a time of 4:25.4; In the boys 60 metre sprints, Senior Kevin ' Beattie and Midget Darryl Balaski both made the semi-finals.
