4-H Club works
on ` actionwear
The Port Albert 4-11 Homemaking Club
held their first meeting on February 13 at
the home of Donna Hayden. Thirteen
members enrolled in the club, which is spon-
sored by Dungannon Women's Institute. In
the current project, "Actionwear"
members will make one garment such as a
T-shirt, sweatshirt, pants or skirt from a
knit fabric. n.
The election of officers results are as
follows: President, Laurie Hayden; Vice -
President, -Teresa Meriam; Secretary, Deb-
bie Debold; Press Reporter, Wendy Millen-.
burg; Treasurer - Marcia Boak. The club
name is Port Albert Actioneers.
Topics covered were: requirements of the
sewing box, knit fabrics, and stretch. Parts
of the sewing machine were demonstrated
and members practised their sewing skills
on paper.
The meeting ended with a word scramble
and the 4-H Pledge.

played brilliantly. Referee was Mike "Vern

Several classes observed Valentine's Day,
with a party including hotdogs and/or.cakeS'
and cookies and a Valentine exchange. Mrs.
Young's Grade 1 made heart -shaped Valen-
tine booklets.
Mr. Sygrove's class is beginning a study
of winter birds. Mrs. Tebbutt's • Grade 4
class helped 14 of their classmates celebrate
birthdays at the Valentine party. -
Mr. Liddle's Grade ..6 and Mrs. Worsell's
Grade 3 shared a party in the gym with hot-
dogs and sweets.
The Students' Council conducted a Valen-
tine heart game on Thursday and a Sadie
Hawkins Dance in the'gym:atnoolf
