The students of Robertson Public School took to the snow on Fri-
day February 15 for their annual play day in the snow. There were
a number of events, a few seen here are the plank walk, tug-of-war,
as well as the toboggan race. This event consisted of some of the

older students pullling the younger ones tirougbt he course. It was
quite a cold wintery day and some of the children sat in the snow

Goderich Legion makes
donation to March of Dimes
by N. Shaw, Branch 109 P.R.O.
The regular monthly meeting of Goderich
Legion Branch 109 was held. in the Jubilee
room on Feb. 5 with President John A. Mac-
Donald in the chair, with 44 members in at-
tendance.
Thirteen members were added to the
nominal roll of Branch 109. Those members
accepted as ordinary members were M.
Robertson, T., Wilton, V. Wilton, M.R.
Fraser, G. Lowe, D. Durnin, K. Hiuser, E:J.
Fleetwood, V.J. Smith and J.A. Rumig.
Accepted as associate members in
Branch 109 were M. Little, R. Geldhof and
M. Williams. The initiation of ordinary
member, Vincent Smith into the Legion was
conducted by comrades Les Riley and
Harold Chambers. The winner of a free
membership in .the Early Bird draw was
Bi.Read1e.
The Branch approved a donation of $60 to
the Ontario March of Dimes and voted $200
to sponsor President John MacDonald as a
bowler in the North Huron Big Brothers
bowling tournament. The members also ap-
_proved the renewal of the Branch insurance
and the service contract • on•our cash
registers.
The Branch will send two teams to
District bowling in Guelph on Feb. 23 and
dart teams to Owen Sound on Mar. 2. A
District crib tournament will be held at our
Branch on Mar. 23.
A motion was. approved by the Branch to
send the President - Elect and the 1st Vice
President - Elect to the Provincial Conven-
tion at Hamilton from May 12 to 16.
It was reported that the Branch public
speaking contest is to be held on Saturday,
Feb. 16 with the Zone contest scheduled here
at Branch 109 on Mar. 2.
The Branch will purchase 2000 60th an-
niversary coasters and four Jubilee plates.
Those plates will be donated to city and
Legion officials in Bay City during the visit
there for the St. Patrick's Day weekend on
Mar. 16 and 17. Reservations for this two
crak lins trip to Bay City may be made at the
Branch canteen.
Sick and Welfare chairman comrade Ray
Barker reported the loss of two comrades in
the past month and gifts, cards and/or
visitations made to 18 other comrades. The
list of Branch members in hospital as • of
Feb. 14 includes Hibbert, C. Brownlee,
• Howard, H. Kilpatrick, S. Hadden, J.
Phalen, Co. Homar, and E. Johnston yoho
are in Alexandra and Marine Hospital. In
University Hospital are E. Schneider and G.
Glousher. Ted Pope is in Victoria and Percy
Sheardown is in Sunnybrook Hospital. In
Parkwood hospital are K. Kempson, B.
Michie, L. McAndrew, B. Keene, A. Wells,
J. Quellette and M. Tennent.
The Diamond Jubilee committee now has
11 orders for Jubilee tulip bulbs and re-
quests further orders from members and
the general public as soon as possible. The
committee would like members to save un-
wanted items for a yard sale which is plann-
ed for the spring.
• The Honours and Awards night of the
Branch and Auxiliary will be held in the
Jubilee room on Saturday, Mar. 9 at 7:30
p.m. The annual Vimy Banquet is scheduled
for Saturday, Mar. 13.
A motion was passed to place a bronze
plaque in the lobby of the Arena where the
Branch donated new flooring at a cost of
$12,000. ,
The next general meeting, of the Branch
will be in the Jubilee room on Tuesday, Mar.

of the Branch 10O Ladies Legion Auxiliary.

the weather was less than ideal.
The application of Lenna Marie Penn-
ington for membership was received, a mo-
tion by Com. Karen Draper Sec. by M.
McNair that the application be accepted
was carried. Com. Marg Young gave the
minutes of the last General Meeting and
they were accepted as read.
The minutes of the last Executive Meeting
were accepted after one correction.
Com. Marie LeBlanc gave the treasurer's
report, -it was accepted as read. Com. Young
read the accounts and they were approved
for payment.
On behalf of the members Com. L. McLar-
• ty extended-congratulationsto-Com. Myrtle
Goodrich on her retirement.
Comrade Sharon Scruton and Comrade
Karen Draper made a very special donation
of $60 08 ('nm Sprntnn and Draper in-
dicated that their donation start a fund to
• proinote""Christmas in the Park".

• Comrade Grace Mugford gave the sports
report and a request for transportation to
Preston Distritt Bowling was approved. In- -
vitational Bowling will be in Strathroy April
24th. All teams must register by April 10th.
Comrade Grace also reported that there is
a Fun Day planned for Feb. 24th at noon at
the Legion Hall.
Correspendence was read by Comrade
-Iris Sampson. The many thank yous 'and
notes of appreciation that were read, give a
picture of how faithfully the committees
carry out their work. Comrade Anne Doher-
ty made a motion. that $25.00 be donated to
the Heart and Stroke Foundation and $25.00
–to_the_Ontario_MASSIIADimes Sec. by Alice
Anstay. Both motions were approVed. 'The •
Zone Commander's official visit will be at
the April 9th General Meeting.
Tag days are planned for June 14 and 15th.

toria Street United Church on June 2nd.
Committee reports were given and all
Committee heads given money to carry on.
Comrade Marg McMillan in her report on
Veterans Monthly Parcels, gave thanks to
Com. Ray Barker for his help in getting
these parcels to the Vets. Comrade Marg
also reported that the Vets were moved into
their new quarters , at Parkwood. Resolu-
tions of the' 41st Biennial Convention at
NiagaraYalls were dealt with, this Conven-
tion Report Book is available to the Ladies -
to read in full. The book shows the variety of
the work that is accomplished by the Ladies
Auxiliary-of-Ont-ari�---
The Mystery Prize was won by Alice
Anstay. There was no.attendance draw win-
ner.
