The Al Barber rink from the Hanover
Curling Club won all its game** in the
weekend competition at the Maitland Curl-
ing Club and earned the right to compete in
the regional finals next weekend in Lon-
don.
The Seagrams Five -Star Colts
playdowns had 16 teams from Zone 13 in-
volved in games that began early Friday
evening and continued until Sunday even-
ing.
The consolation winner was the Dave
Telker rink, from Palmerston, who will
also be going to the regional finals in..I on -
don.
The Goderich representative, Glen
Falkiner and his team of Gerry Riley, Dan
Durst and Charlie Crawford, won three of
Four members of Branch 109 Royal Canadian Legion, will be representing the Legion's
District C and the Maitland Curling Club, when they travel to Trenton this weekend to com-

the umpire for the event, which saw some
high calibre curling that was enjoyed by
many spectators at the Maitland Curling
Club.

Skip Jim Bell, vice Jack Kellough, se-
cond John Orr and lead Jeff Harrison won
the right to compete in the Provincial
finals and will be taking part in the four-
day round robin event.
Thefour do not normally 'compete as a

teams , that compete weekly in the In-
qistrial Curling League, but they got
together just after Christmas to form what .
should be a strong contender for the Pro-
vincial championship.

The Swiss Team Event was coihpleted
on Tuesday, January 29 at the Goderich
Duplicate Bridge Club. The team of Edna
Overholt, Evie McDonagh, Roseanne and
Graham Yeats finished first with five wins
and a plus of 68.
Second, Mary Phillips, Frank Laverty,
Sandy Turville, and Randy Piirainen, four
" wins +74; third, Marg Hall, John Wood,
Joanne Gilchrist and Lee Ryan, four wins,
+73; fourth, Dawna Sproule, Mary Ann
Dempsey, Jean Cook and Verna Worthy,
four wins, +44. ...
Twelve teams competed in the event and
all teams with three wins or more are eligi-
ble for the intermediate stage, to be held in
London.
On Thursday afternoon, January 31,
there were four tables playing a Howell
-ono eluent- -at--the- -Gederich Duplicate
Bridge Club.
First, Ralph Kingswell and Bill Duncan,
39 points; second, Marg Hall and Mary
Donnelly, 37; -third; Lynne-Edwards._and..
