Gene McGee of Goderich _ visited on Wednesday with Rhetta MacLennan. Visiting on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Gor- don Robb was their daughter, son -m -law and granddaughter, Bob, Sandra and Heather Darling of Hanover. Atlee Wise and a friend, Jack Arnold of Richfield, Ohio are up for a few days with their snowmobiles, staying with Wellington and Kae Webster to try out our snow and also to enjoy some of our good old Canadian -winter. Barry and Betty Jones visited recently with Barry's mother, Gertrude Jones of St. Marys. This past week Betty Jones had her neighbours, Mayme Wilkins, Betty Mon- creif and Linda Campbell_ at her place quilting. The annual meeting of the Ashfield Presbyterian Church was held on Wednes- day, after being postponed on two previous occasions. has full house- for games BY BARRY PAGE It .was almost a full house at last Wednesday's chess club meeting and, as uaual,_ there were some great games played. Some of the youngest members were really active; notably John Crawford and Mark Maurer, who had a very profitable evening. It was good to see Dennis Fox out again; as well as Richard Bennett, who played the greatest number of games dur- ing the evening. There was some stiff competition from Bob Dick, who romped home with two Twin City School of Hairstyling Neil -earned victories:' Walter -Gottschalk - and George Barwick had a long struggle containing much devious strategy• Walter finally coming out on top. Brian Phillips oug Brindley, in a game that has yet to finish. This very interesting game against thO clock should have a classic ending. Barry Page made it one, one and one. He and Robert Nau played the only drawn game of the evening. Aspiring chess players, young and old, are welcome at the club.
