Society set dates for summer events The Dungannon Agricultural Society held its annual meeting at the hall on Tuesday evening, January 29. Twenty-nine people shared a bountiful potluck meal and social Following supper, Dennis Martin, from the O.M.A.F. office in Clinton, and his wife were introduced by the president, Bob McNeil. Dennis showed the film, Proud Beginnings, a tribute to Ontario farmers, past and present. Jim Aitchison gave a few words about past fairs in which he showed horses. Bernice Glenn read the minutes of the last annual meeting and the 1984 financial report was presented by treasurer, Lynda McNee. The bank balance at the end of 1983 was $129.17. Total receipts in 1984 amounted to $33,531.48 while expenses were $33,549.36, therefore, the bank balance as of December 31, 1984 was $111.29. A copy ,of the financial report will be posted in the Dungannon Post Office. Bob McNeil reviewed 1984's events and achievements, an ever-growing list, for sure. Advance prize lists for the Home Craft Section of the 1985 Fair were obtained from Bonnie Hodges, 529-7620, Dungannon. The men plan to meet Tuesday, February 12 at the hall CO Pfeparellieliorteecattle and crop sections of the Fair Book. Dates were set for this summer's events. The Horse and Antique Tractor Pull, Barbecue, Varie- ty Concert and Miss Dungannon Fair Queen Competition will be Sunday, August 11. The following weekend, August 16 men? will be the DungannOn Fair. Mark these on your calendar. Mary Ellen Boel and Sandra Rivett were appointed as auditors for 1985. Howard Godfrey presented information about the Mectron oil burner to increase heating efficiency. A committee was formed to decide the pros and cons and compile more information. Elections for directors were held with the. following results: three-year directors are Bernice Glenn, John Fielder, Eldon Culbert and Michelle Brindley; two-year directors are Bob McNeil, Lynda McNee, Jack Caesar and Bonnie Hodges; one-year direc- tors are Grant Johnson, Jack Pentland, Barb MacAulay and Carol Nivins. While others enjoyed a social time, the directors held nominations for offices, with these results: president, Carol Nivins; first vice president, John Fielder; second vice president, Grant Johnson; secretary, Bon- nie Hodges; treasurer, Lynda McNee. Donation lists for 1985 were distributed to directors. Each will be canvassing an area this month for donations of cash, vouchers or merchandise for expenses and prizes at the 1985.Fair.
