points from the Madcaps..,Jan Watson, 249,
580 was top man for the •Tarts while Marie,
246,,571 was best for the 11Mtadeaps.
Close games between the Jems and the
Ups & Downs saw the latter get five points.
Irene Sparks, 532, and Jim Boys, 449, were
top scorers for the Ups & Downs and. Marg
Harman had a 512 for the losers.
TUESDAY MIXED ,.,.
The Bowled Eagles moved into first place
this week after grabbing seven points from
the Unkowns. Tom Allen led the Eagles with
a 607 triple. Vi de Haas had a 609 triple for
the Unkowns:
The Frame Ups raked the Tailenders for
seven points. Hugh McGregor and Chris
Connor led the charge rolling 773 and 724
triples. Marg Prouse was high for the
Tailenders, rolling a 570 triple.
The Unpredictables shocked the Tricky
Six by taking a 5-2 win. Janet Daer rolled a
582 triple for the Unpredictables. Dennis
Schmidt was high for the Tricky Six rolling a
691 triple.
Lee Littlechild rolled a 320 single and 687
triple to help the ?'s roll over Barb's Gang 5-
2. Bruce Carrick rolled a 327 single and 685
triple for the Gang.
The G.M.C.'s surprised the Dirty Half
Dozen with their 5-2 win. Jean Merkley had 3
200 plus games plust a 664 triple to lead the
G.M.C.s. Manfred Popernitsch was high for
the Dirty Half rolling a 680 triple.
Walter Bell rolled a 584 triple to lead Bell's
Angels to a 5-2 split with the Pin Pickers.
Harvey Culbert rolled a 564 triple for the
Pickers.
WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON LADIES
Over the last 2 weeks the standings have
tightened, with only six points separating
the top six teams. Some of the highlights
from Jan. 16 were 307 and 627 from Ev
Maclnnes, 256 from Marg Hornblower and
287 and 646 from Marg Ball.

THURSDAY MIXED
The league leading Dizastors struggled to
retain first place as they dropped a 5-2
decision to the Four Seasons. Dan Bizier led
the Four Seasons with :a 263 single and 542
triple. Gerry Good was high bowler for the
Dizastors with a 582 triple.
The "A" Team also won a 5-2 split,
defeating the Semis?. Debby Good and
Noris Lavirence led the way for the "A"
Team, bowling 583 and 558 triples
respectively. Sharon Johnston bowled a 638
triple to lead the Semis?
The Copycats and Night Owls battled to a
4-3 split with the Copycats coming out on
top. Elsa Fickert was top bowler for the
Copycats with a 589 triple. Vi de. Haas
bowled well for the Night Owls with a 266
single and 684 triple.
THURSDAY NIGHT LADIES
Wallbangers came off the alleys with all
seven points. Helen Lewis bowled well with
a 562 triple. The Spare Parts' high bowler
for the night was Kim Langlois with a 439
triple.
Trouble Makers had trouble against the
What Nots, losing 7-0. Barb Pigg was high
bowler for the Trouble Makers with a 514
triple. The What Nots had many good games
but their high bowler was Bonnie Erb with
three excellent games to give her a 685
triple.
Team Canada overpowered the
Nighthawks and took all seven points. Alice
Koopmans bowled two good games for a 598
triple and Rory Hurlock bowled three
consistent games to end up with a 534 triple.
Alleycats and Yo Yo's were better
matched' with the Yo Yo's taking a slight
lead over the Alley Cats four points to three.

Hot Spots showed Noddy Pins how to bowl
taking five. Dan Mero of Hot Spots' 264, Bob
Johnston 223, 236, 620 triple, Sharon
Johnston 201, Noddy Pins, Steve Johnston,
226, Don Bauer 207.
The Spoilers got 4 and Six Pointers 3. Jack
Gilbert of Spoilers 217, Jim Ritchie 209,
Dotig Haskell 210, 265 and 661 three, Tom
Willis of Six Pointers 232, Nancy Willis 214,
Doug Fuller 213,232 for 638 three.
WEDNESDAY MIXED
Kevin and Janet Romig were hot for the -
Falcons this week with a combined total of
1458. Janet took the ladies' high triple with
634 and Kevin's 365 single and 824 triple took
top honours for the men. Teammate Sonny
Moore rolled a 733 in a losing cause, as the
Hotel Bedford managed to skunk the
Falcons for seven points. Big Guns for the
Bedford were John and Wayne Allen with
766 and 629 respectively while Shirley
Smith's 286 single took the ladies' high
single giving her 633 for the night. -
Other action saw Ernie's take five points .
from the A & P. team, the Go Getters
overpowering the Ghost Busters 5-2 and the
leftovers taking 5 points from the Lane -
Busters. The Country Kids split the night
with the R -Gang adding four and three
respectively to their running totals. ,
Race proceeds go to Heart Fund
CFPL-TV-London is sponsoring a 10 -
kilometer race in London on February 10,

Track and Field Association.
The course is a certified 10 -km double -
loop course, starting and finishing on the
Western Fair RaceWay. The runners will go

das.

Runners' entry fees will also be good • for

Foundation of Ontario. Runners may pick
up pledge sheets from the Heart Fund office

Women Curlers bonspiel is a success
On Jan. 26, Maitland Country Club women Garrow (vice), Gertie Wilson (second) and
curlers held their In -club Bonspiel. Three - Lynn Todgham (lead) played extremely
six end games were played by 8 enthusiastic well. ''$20.00 each went to second -place
teams: -Demonstrating considerable._-skill,_winners
drive and determination, Nancy
MacKinnon's (skip) team won all three of
their games. Karen Kirk (vice) showed
extreme finesse, while. Joanne McCallum
(second) and Sheryl Gilbert (lead) played
consistently well. Cash prizes of $25,00 each
were given to the winning team members.
Eleanor Erskine skipped her team to
second place with confidence. Doreen
Third place winners Kay Duncan (skip),
Kay King (vice), Laurie Pentland (second)
and Crystal Bissett (lead) played strong
games and won a cash prize of $5.00 each.
Lovely floral centerpieces made up by
Dixie's Flower Shop were won by Eleanor
Erskine, Emily Crew, Gertie Wilson, and
Chris Moore. The entire day could not have
been as successful without the hard work of
Penny Peters who provided tasty morning
muffins, a great lunch, and a scrumptious
dinner for 32 hungry curlers! Adding a touch
of flair and fashion to The day were Scottish
kilts worn by Emily Crew and Vicki Culbert,
and good old-fashioned knickers worn by
Kay King.
Thank you to Shelagh Sully for tending
bar, to Dana Garrett for double-checking
those scores, and to all the gals who offered
their assistance in the kitchen and dining
room throughout the day.
