The organizers have kept the name of the auctioneer a secret to this date but he or she • ti The congregation of Knox Presbyterian Church held a Robbie Burns dinner at the church Friday as part of the Sesquicentennial celebrations. Piper Bert McCreath led the procession into the church and was followed by Edward Smythe and the porter of the haggis, Barbara Ellen McLeod.'Smythe later delivered a spirited address to the haggis and toast to Robbie Biwa. (photos by Dave Sykes) First woman member joins Legion Branch 109 elimii0011 Box Social • A 'Family Box Social' will be held to celebrate the Goderich Township Sesquicentennial on Friday, February 15 at 7:30 p.m.• in the Goderich Township Community Centre in Holmesville. Going out to buy a meal is commonplace in the 1980's. Decades earlier it was rare and so it was a treat when a social gathering provided the 'incentive. Not only did the gentlemen buy the meal for themselvesand their partners but the female portion of this partnership, had to provide the meal in a decorated ba. No wonder they did not eat out often when you made the meal and bought it back again! The creator of the Box Social used this method to raise money for churches and " clubs. This event tacilitated a way for single gentlemen and ladies to meet. The gentlemen would bid on the lunches and get 5 YEARS AGO The three federal candidates for Huron - Bruce in the February 18 election faced about 350 voters Monday night at an all - candidates meeting in Lucknow. Mr. Moffat of Brumfield Church officiated. On February 10, the church service at Hohnesville United .will be at 1 p.m., followed by the annual meeting. Many groups feel strongly that there should be no job or role stereotyping. Maybe the womt in this area don't, trust what they would end up buying!
