Barb Alanasi and Joan Burleigh were each
presented with a silver tray for winning the
high -low competition in our Monday Night
Ladies League.
MONDAY NIGHT MEN
Murphy's Landing got big, performances
from Art Burt with an 885 and Ken Johnston
with an 820 as they ganged up on Little Bowl
by the score of 26.5 to 3.5. This win now gives
Murphy's a 15.5 point lead to start the new
year. Sonny Moore was high man for Little
Bowl with a 729.
Selinger Wood jumped into' second spot as
they defeated the A Team 22-8. Wally Milley
'led the way with " a 731 on the night. Bill
Hayward was the best for the A Team -as he
took all 3 of his matches.
The Tail Ends lost the battle for last spot
as they were defeated 16-14 by the Poverty
Pak. Jim Carrick provided most of the of-
fence for the Pak as he rolled a 724. Dennis
Schmidt topped the Tail Ends with a 732.
John's Jokers are starting to make a
move as they took a 21-9 decision from
French Cleaners. John Miller rolled the high
triple for the Jokers with .a -741. Dick ,
McLean led French with a 711.
WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON LADIES
Buttercups and Snapdragons swept- their
opponents, Daffy Dillies and -Mary's Golds -
for seven points each -in spite of Joanne

at Goderich Chess Club

We had ahnost our full quota of
members playing in the club last Wednes-
day. Ben Stadelmann came along and
played as strong as ever. His game with
-John Crawford attracted at least five
onlookers at the final. stages when he gave
John the "coup de grace".
Bob ' Dick hadaa magnificent night,
defeating four opponents and is now well
established in Level 1 standings. Close
behind Bob is Brian Phillips, who picked
up two wins to consolidate his hold.
Robert Nau, John Crawford and Dennis
Fox all did well; with Robert heading the
Most Improved Player list. Dave Brown
didn't make, his second win, but he fought
admirably against some of the top level
players. The Barry Page versus Ben
Stadebnann and Bob Dick games were ex-
tremely interesting; few pieces were cap-
tured before Barry was check -mated on
both occasions. There was a drawn match

and we are still awaiting the outcome of
Louis Stadelmann and Walter Gottschalk's
game

The Ghost Busters also racked up a seven
point night with Vi»De Haas leading the way
with 584. Lee Ryan's 633' and Tami Kroon's

Shirley Smith hada good night with a 211.
single and a 575 triple, combined with John
Allen's 596 to give the Hotel Bedford five
points over the Country Kids. Gerry Bell's
538 once again took top honors for the Kids.
The Leftovers took five points from A&P
with Shirley Schmidt's 620 triple leading the
way. Steve Allen's 614 was high for the A&P
team.
