The Goderich Minor Hockey. Association hosted the first leg of an international hockey
series with Port Huron on the weekend with five American teams playing here. Prior to the
opening of the two-day exhibition, members of both novice teams exchanged gifts at centre
ice. Once the action began Port Huron dominated the series winning eight out of 10 games.

Goderich hosts American hockey teams
• The Goderich Arena was the scene of
some international hockey games on the
weekend, as minor' 'hotkey-teams 'from
• Port Huron, Michigan, came .:to play
against Goderich B teams, in divisions
from Novice to Midget.
Meetings between Goderich and Port
•Hui -brae -MIS are an annual traditiorrhere.
Games were played- both Saturday and
Sunday and Port Huron players were
billeted in local homes Saturday night.
Goderich played their host role to
perfection, even taking it • to the point
where Port Huron was allowed to win most

NOVICE.
• In the Novice category; Port Huron were
6-1 winners in Saturday's game and 3-0 vic-
toron Sunday.
Steve Linklater scored the lone Goderich
goal in the series, the last goal of the Satur-
day game, assisted by Darnel Connelly.
Ilwa3ine Leddynd Ben Armstrong were
the Goderich goaltenders.
ATOM - -
The local Atoms put up a good struggle,
popping in a couple of goals after being
down 5-1 in Saturday's 6-2 loss and coming
within two in a 5-3 loss Saturday.
Scott Creamer scored a goal and an
assist on Saturday; Trevor Bazinet scored
one and David Boyce had one assist.
Jamie Redmond was between the pipes
for Goderich.
PEE WEE
• At the Pee Wee level, Goderich managed
— only One goal in each game, as they, were
bloWn away by scores of 7-1 and 11-1.
On Saturday, Paul Sandy's goal,
assisted by Brad Allen, came after Port
Huron had established a 4-0 lead. Goderich
was behind by 10 on Sunday, When Jason
ll,empsey scored fm Jason LeBeati.
BANTAM
Goderich secured a victory at the Ban-
tam level, as the local team prevailed by a
2-1 count in ,the first" game. They couldn't
carry their good luck ovbr to Sunday, as

Sunday, Goderich led 2-0 early in the se-
cond period on goals by Brad Fisher,
assisted by Dan Imanse, and Jamie Hebei,
assisted by Jerome Pentane and Jim Kel-
ly. • -

MIDGET
The Midget teams were evenly-,
matched, and split a pair of high -scoring
shootouts, .Port Huron taking a 7-5 advan-
tage Saturday and Goderich coming back
for a 5-4 win Sunday. —
Dave Duncan scored a pair for Goderich
(Saturday, while Bruce Parent and Tim
Wilson scored a goal and two assists each;
• and Paul .Jeanotte, one goal. Darrel Dur-
nin chipped in with three assistIcrsteve—
Hutchins added two and Ryan Kelly added
another.

Goderich, assisted by Jamie Stanley ad
Shawn Carver on the first and Stanley and
Jason Jeffrey On the second. Jeffrey scored
the next Goderich goal, assisted by McLar-
ty.
Todd Papple scored the winning goal, with
only 20 seconds left on the clock, assistedhy
Jeff Beange and Sam Hosack.

Graham led the scoring parade Witheight
goals, Angie Chisholm picked up three, plus
four assists and Stacey Rean scored twice
and addedan assist. Vicky Vanderburgh
assisted on four' goals, Becky Morris on two
and Debbie Hebei on one.
TWEENS
The Goderich Tweens came up .with a
spirited effort on January I3,•-inGoderich, to
come out with a 4-4 tie against Mitchell.
Trisha Rumig had a three point night for
Goderich, with a goal and two assists. An -
nett Jones Scored a goal and an assist; Lisa
Empson and Kelly Lumley each scored a
goal; while Angie Harrison, Paula Vander -
burgh and Denise Johnston added one assist
apiece.
HOUSE LEAGUE
The Green Machines downed the Black
Stars 5-4 on Jan. 7. In the first period the
Black Stars went ahead on a goal from Tara
Haylow. The Green Machine got on the
score sheet with a goal from Alesha
Glousher.
In the second period Green Machine had
two goals from Cathy Jo Moore and one
each from Alesha Glousher and Tanya Ross,
with assists going to Jennifer Hamilton,
Leslie Brereton, and Stacey Clarence. The
Black Stars' had two goals from Donna
Wateitield with assists going to Julie Camp-
bllindMeUssa Niger. •
The girls • had good goaltending from
Heather MacDonald and Tanya Glousher,
• and hard work from the defence Meredith
Rompf,_ Sherry Hogan, Jackie Vanstone,
Angie Larder, Amy Baer, Sherry Suplat,
Jackie Crawford, and Becky Harrison.
The next game is Monday, Jan. 21 at 7:30.

Jeff Kent and Dave Edwards each assisted
on one.
