Association hosted the first leg of an international hockey series with Port Huron on the weekend with five American teams playing here. Prior to the opening of the two-day exhibition, members of both novice teams exchanged gifts at centre ice. Once the action began Port Huron dominated the series winning eight out of 10 games. Meetings between Goderich and Port •Hui -brae -MIS are an annual traditiorrhere. Games were played- both Saturday and Sunday and Port Huron players were billeted in local homes Saturday night. Goderich played their host role to perfection, even taking it • to the point where Port Huron was allowed to win most _ • • -- NOVICE. • In the Novice category; Port Huron were 6-1 winners in Saturday's game and 3-0 vic- toron Sunday. Steve Linklater scored the lone Goderich goal in the series, the last goal of the Satur- day game, assisted by Darnel Connelly. Ilwa3ine Leddynd Ben Armstrong were the Goderich goaltenders. ATOM - - The local Atoms put up a good struggle, popping in a couple of goals after being down 5-1 in Saturday's 6-2 loss and coming within two in a 5-3 loss Saturday. Scott Creamer scored a goal and an assist on Saturday; Trevor Bazinet scored one and David Boyce had one assist. Jamie Redmond was between the pipes for Goderich. PEE WEE • At the Pee Wee level, Goderich managed — only One goal in each game, as they, were bloWn away by scores of 7-1 and 11-1. TWEENS The Goderich Tweens came up .with a spirited effort on January I3,•-inGoderich, to come out with a 4-4 tie against Mitchell. Trisha Rumig had a three point night for Goderich, with a goal and two assists. An - nett Jones Scored a goal and an assist; Lisa Empson and Kelly Lumley each scored a goal; while Angie Harrison, Paula Vander - burgh and Denise Johnston added one assist apiece. HOUSE LEAGUE The Green Machines downed the Black Stars 5-4 on Jan. 7. In the first period the Black Stars went ahead on a goal from Tara Haylow. The Green Machine got on the score sheet with a goal from Alesha Glousher. In the second period Green Machine had two goals from Cathy Jo Moore and one each from Alesha Glousher and Tanya Ross, with assists going to Jennifer Hamilton, Leslie Brereton, and Stacey Clarence.
