HOLMESVILLE Worship . Service at
Holmesville United Church was well attend-
ed last Sunday morning - with Rev. Bechtel
in charge. Jackie Normansang a,$olo dur-
ing the service; with Mrs. Vera Lobb at the
organ, '
Confirmation was held with Rev. Bechtel
in charge. Confirmed were Shannon
Preszcator, Denise Johnson, Jim Crawford
and Michael.
Also at the service baby Aaron Alexander
Jantzi, infant son of Lloyd and Theresa
Jantzi was baptized.
On January 20 the Annual Church meeting
will follow the service at 1 p.m.
Card Party
The Goderich Township W.I. held a card
party on January 10 with eix,tables playing.

HOUVIESVILLE - Money making projects
and commitments were discussed by the
Hofrnesvjlle UCW when they met on
January 7.
Penny saver captains for 1985 were nam-
ed. They are Kaye Harris and Isobel Sturdy.
Leader Muriel Grigg led the worship ser-
vice and prayer was offered by Grace
Walter. Phyllis Cox read the devotion, and
readings were given by Jean Perdue and
Mrs. Grigg.
President Isobel Sturdy chaired the
meeting and members were reminded that
the congregational meeting will be held on
Sunday, January 20 at 1 p.m. following the
church service. .
Class makes gingerbread puppets

After reading the story, The Gingerbread
Man, Mrs. Cameron's kindergarten class
made gingerbread puppets from brown
paper bags.
Mr. Sygrove welcomed all his class back,
including Cabbage Patch Kids. His class is
studying snow and making a winter mural
on the bulletin board.
Mrs. Ottewell's Grade 2-3 class has been
singing the song, "If Snowflakes Came in
Flavours" and they made "flavoured" col-
oured paper snowflakes to make their
bulletin board. Crystal Brindley brought a
coconut from Florida and each child had a
taste of coconut and coconut milk.
Mrs. Blanchette's Grade 1 class began an
integrated study on Neighbourhood Helpers.
Mrs. Tebbutt's Grade 4 painted a seasonal
mural representing the four seasons and ac-
tivities for each season.
Amber celebrates her first
Sympathy is extended to Ken Bowden and
family of Goderich, formerly of the -Tillage
on the death of his uncle at Chatham on
January 8, .
Word has been received of the fire that
completely destroyed the home and con-
tents of Mr. and Mrs. Winer Errington of
Eagle River just before Christmas. Both
Wilmer and Shirley were at their teaching
jobs and son John was attending school 'at
the.time. Wilmer, the -son of -Mrs. Mary Err-
ington of Goderich, spent his childhood in
Dungannon.
Jim Errington has been a patient in
Wingham hospital.

TAKE NOTICE that the Council of the Town of Goderich passed By -Law No. 3 of 1985
on the fourteenth day of January, 1985 under Section 3% of the Plannning Act,
1983_

AND TAKE NOTICE That any person or agency may appeal to the Ontario Municipal
Board in respect of the by-law by filing with the Clerk of the Town of Goderich not
later than the 18th day of February. 1985, a notice of cippeat setting out the
objection to the By-law and the reasons in support of the objection.
An explanation of the purpose and effect of the by-law describing the lands to
which the by-law applies, and a key map showing the location of the lands to which
the by-law applies are attached. The complete by-law is available for inspection in
rny office during regular office hours.

Sy -law 3 of 1985 has the following purpose and effect:
By-law 3 of 1985 implements the Official Plan for the Town of Goderich Planning
Area, which sets out policies for the eStablishment of group homes in the
Municipality. This by-law permits one class of group home - a home for motfuirs and
children suffering from emotional, social end physical distress. - to locate in any
residential area In the Town Of Goderich provided that the requirements specified
.in fly -law 3 - 1985 are satisfied. These provisions require that "Such facilities are
properly maintained, operated and managed and prohibits their concentration in
any raititiential neighbourhood. Group homes aro seen as a institutionalization for
people with non-acute sal, mental and physical problems who require more core
than their families canprovide, but do not require the level of care found in
Institutions, ond ensures that needy individuals are not forced to leave their
communities to find suitable care.
