chener and Me is of Scarborough. He was
predeceased 'by a son, John Thomas
Johnston.
He is also survived by three sisters; -Mrs.
Robert (Jean) SpottoWingham; Mrs. Edgar
(Beatrice) Stoll, R.R. 3, Kippen and Mrs.
Bill (Helen) Williams, Goderich. He is also
survived by his mother-in-law Mrs. Helene
Cooke of Goderich.
Funeral and committal services were con-
ducted by Rev. G.L. Royal at the McCallum
Funeral Home Friday, January 11.
Members of the Royal Canadian Legion
and the Ladie's Auxiliary held a memorial
service at the funeral home.Thursday,
KATRELINE EGENER
Katheline Margaret (Carpenter) Egener
MA, C Psych., of London died in Calgary,
Alberta January 14 in her 75th year.
She loved and leaves her sons Mark
Egener of Calgary and Cewan Egener of
Goderich and her grandchildren Peter,
Loilise, Charles and Kristen. Her dear
daughters Elizabeth Ann and Christyne
Isabelle Margaret predeceased her. She
was also predeceased by her sisters Marion
Carpenter, Viola Church and Marguerite
Bu .
A memorial service- will be held at St.
' John the Evangelist Anglican Church, 280
St. James Street,. London Monday, January
28, 1985 at 11 a.m. Interment will be at
Maitland Cemetery Goderich.
Mrs. Egener requested that instead of
flowers, donations be made to the London
and District Association for the Mentally
Handicapped or the Canadian Cancer Socie-
ty.
MARY E. EVERETT
Mary E. Everett, formerly .of Goderich,
died at Fremont Manor, 1 Springfield
Missouri on January 6,1985 at the age of 94.
She is predeceased by her husband, and
herenly son Clyde E. Everett. She is surviv-
ed by her daughter-in-law, Barbara
Everett; five grandchildren, John, Joan,,
-Bohr and- — and- - --great-- —
grandchildren.
The funeral was held in Colfax, Iowa on
January 12, 1985.and burial at Greencastle
Cemetery, Colfax, Iowa.
MARGMET DALTON O'CCATNOlit
On October 14, 1984, Margaret O'Connor
passed away at the age of 93 years. She was
the eldest daughter of the late Morgan
Dalton and Mary Sullivan of Kingsbridge
and was the sister of Fr. Michael Dalton of
Courtland, Raymond and Dennis of
Kingsbridge, Sister Maureen C.S.J. of Lon-
don, Antoinette of Detroit, and the late John
S. of Kingsbridge, Josie Cleary of
Wallaceburg and Walter of Windsor.
Margare (as she was more commonly
known) married Arthur O'Connor of
ItiiwieluirOt: Farm, Pickering, in October
1916. For twenty-three yearsshe was tbe
organist of St. Francis de Sales Church,
Pickering. . In 1040, she *Is Charter Presi-
dent of the Home and School Association of
Almond School Community. She was active
in Catholic Church Extension and in the
Catholic litfoinen'tLeague where she served
m executive positions at the parish level as
well as Chairman of Durham Regional and
viee-President and Spiritual Convener :On
the Toronto .Arehdiocesan Council. in 1972;
Margaret was awarded the Maple Leaf Ser-
vice pin from the C.W.L. She was noted for
her ability to communicate with all,

home, Patricia of Toront Helen of Picker-
ing, Dr. Denis and his wif UrSula of Stouff-
ville, Geraldine of Torontd Dr. Terence and
his wife Colleen of Stouffv Ile, Maurice and
his wife Marilyn of Pick ring, Moira and
her husband Ron Ste. Marie of Oshawa, and
the late Sgt. Pilot George (1945) and Morgan
(1978). She was the loved grandinother of
twenty-five grandchilelrgn and two great-
grand...WM.
St. Francis de Sales Church was filled to
capacity' for the Mass con -celebrated by
Rev. Michael Dalton, Rev. John T. Bolger
(Pastor of St. Francis de Sales), Rev. T.
O'Keefe S.J. of Manresa, Pickering, Rev. T.
Manly of Oshawa, Rev. J. Murphy of Whit-
by, Rev. L. DeSousa of Markham, Rev. A.
McMahon of Toronto and Deacon Roy Ettles
of North Bay. The homilist was Rev. Carl
Matthews S.J. of Toronto. Burial was in the
O'Connor family plot in St. Francis de Sales
Cemetery, Pickering.
ORVILI F. SEDDON
Orville Seddon, 70, a retired resident of
R.R. 1, Bayfield, died Saturday, December
29 at University Hospital, London.
Born July 1, 1914 in Hamilton. Ont. Mr.
Seddon was a member of the Baha'i Faith.
He was predeceased by his parents George
Seddon and Janet (Lowe) Seddon, and two
sisters, Marjorie Seymour and Meta Begg.
He is survived by his wife Jeannie Seddon,
one sister, Mrs. Charles (Helen) Land,
Wnedstoek; a datighter Nancy andher hus-
band Tom Flynn, R.R. 1, Bayfield; a son,
Jeff and his wife Sue of Goderich and six
grandchildren, ° Jennifer, Tonia, ,L1,
Nicole, Ryan and Adam.
The funeral service was held January 1;
1985, at the McCallum Funeral Home.
Mrs. Dale Simms, a close family friend,
delivered the eulogy. Also participating in
the sex -vice were Joanne Tompkins, Joanne '
Durst, Angela Brewster, ,Lisa Flynn, Keith
Greenham Cathy McICegney? , Burnell
Smith, PerrY Punt. and
Marg Raynor. _ _ _
The pallbearers were John Hart, Greg
Hart, Doug Brewster, Don Brewster, Dave
Colbonme, Gerry Durst and Brian Flynn.
Interment was in Maitland Cemetery,
Goderich.

The Maple Leaf Chapter IODE held the
January 8 meeting at the home of the regent
Mrs. R.L. McDonald, with the regent
presiding.
Reports were accepted from the secretary
Mrs.J. Schaefer and the treasurer Mrs. ChB.
Kelly,
Mrs. C. Knight, citizenship secretary,
made a request that the members hand in
'their stamps for Oxfam at each meeting
leaving a one-quarter inch border arouncr°-
the stamp. The same will be sent directly to
Oxfam Canada at the end of the year. Mrs.
Knight also drew the members' attention to
the fact that Frontier College, a private non-
profit organization, relies on donations from
individuals, corporations and organizations
of which IODE has been a supporter for

chapters towards the Literacy Project can

The members have voted to display a ,one-
third page ad in the spring supplement to
the Goderich Signal -Star.
Once again the chapter has nominated
Mrs. W.J. Garrow to stand for provincial
councillor, and Mrs. G.L. Royal to standJor
national councillor.
At the end of the meeting Mrs. McDonald
gave a presentation of the new video audio-
visual presentation entitled "A Chapter in
the Life of *Canada. The IODE Story"
suitable for public relations.
Mrs. R. Breckenridge thanked Mrs.
McDonald for opening her home to the
members, as well as providing the
refreshments.

The Town of Goderich encourages jnterested individuals to tour the Council Chambers of the
Town Hall on Friday, January lath the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., '1:30 p.m.
and 3:30 part. and 4:00 pair. and 9:00 p.m. to view video productions on Local Government
Week and to meet with various Council Members concerning Local Government in their
community.
